What’s your unpopular Hermes opinion?

a friend that there is a new "rule" coming down the pipeline that you must physically show your face, as it was put verbatim, every six months in order to be allowed to continue to purchase

Two in person purchases within the past year

Agree. My madison SA said they cannot take on new clients unless there are two in person visits a year

UO: I don’t think this is a bad idea for a luxury company that focuses less on phone and on line orders.
(I am not saying that SAs don’t do many phone orders, just that the emphasis seems to be on walk ins and appts).

I posted in this thread that I didn’t like the sac Kelly elan or ghw. Am happy and grateful to eat those words today

When I had Constance (elan), I felt exactly this way. I'll never forget the answer I gave when SA asked why I was sad:

- But this is Jackie’s bag; I supported Maria Callas my whole life. lol.

My unpopular opinion is regarding the threads on this forum 'sorry!'...I miss the threads of old showing trainwreck Hermes (owned or spotted online) The vintage bags threads, Seeing rested designs, learning about Hermes owners or about peoples 1st Hermes purchase.
I'm bored with influencers and seeing so many of the same bag..
Also I'm bored with all the Birkin & Kelly hybrids thats are being produced.
Cargo Birkin, Kelly Disordre as just two examples or the hideous Birkin Colourmatic.
I'm excited by the Arcon because it feels new (or like an updated Gao).
Some of the newer bags are guilding the lilly and as somebody who cares about design and asthetics I find myself thinking.."why?'

UO the colormatic is actually one of the few “clown” Birkins I really, really like! (but in the dark tone on tone version 30).

Staying on theme..I have seen far too many special order Birkins and Kellys look like they were designed by a 5 year old…absolute circus, but to each their own. You do you, love it, own it! but also yikes.
My UO to add to this is that I DO NOT miss the tricolor special order option :yucky:

Totally agree! I'd forgotten the train wreck thread, but those are the posts that I loved to see. 'Rescued' battered bags, vintage finds, the excitement of someone who's got their preowned dream bag finally.
Not just on here but Youtube etc too. There's only so many times you can watch someone take the felt off of new B25 in black, gold, nata or craie!
As for the Inside out Birkin.. Umm seriously??!!

Yes, and also, there was previously much more interest here in the artistry and craftsmanship of the brand. I miss those types of threads! I see them pop-up occasionally but they don't get much traction anymore. :shrugs: The creativity, whimsy, artistry, and craftsmanship are what initially drew me to Hermes. Maybe another unpopular opinion, but sadly, in recent years, I feel like I've seen less creativity and whimsy from Hermes. Have resources been directed towards keeping up with demand, and therefore been diverted from design?

UO as cute and trendy buckles are on shoes, I would prefer to keep my footwear clear of such accoutrements. The Jaime/jaimy boots come to mind. So much effort imo to put on! I know I am lazy. mind you I do own loafers with metal embellishments. I just slip those on though.

I’m with you on the embellishment on shoes. Not just H but any shoes. I don’t want to have too much going on with shoes. Simple is better

I don’t know why asking for clarification/definition of a word used in several previous comments/established convo is not allowed. I am not even a part of the original conversion or commenting on it. It helps to understand what people are talking about in this public forum. Wouldn’t clarification be useful for all readers instead of being edited out? Not everyone understands particular syntax/slang. You can DM the reply if you prefer.

UO: I have a bunch of H 140 csgm me, but my favorite scarves are a Charvet silk and an etro silk velvet

I agree with you 100%. I am always disappointed when I walk into my local store and it's a sea of black/gold/etoupe Birkins. Where is the color? Where is the whimsy? There aren't even "neutral" colors like bleu unit, rouge H or vert de gris around.
As the owner of a bag in Bleu Nuit, I agree 💯 I don’t like gold or etoupe, would rather prefer Noisette… but all we see are the same two colors being offered/popular 🙈 Hermes should offer a full range of their colorways and not just the easy/safe options
