What’s your unpopular Hermes opinion?

I’m a little tired of these questions which seem to be the majority of new threads today . (though I still weigh in with my opinion if I am scrolling through lol)

Should I buy bright or neutral bag
Should i sell, donate, or keep my bag
Is it safe to wear my bag
Should I change SAs if ___
And,
Is this resale bag too good to be true?

Ans: if you are unsure, don’t do it
💯, particularly where the question has been answered, often above, if not immediately preceding, the post seeking advice. I really appreciate when it’s clear that the previous answer has been considered and the conversation continues to build. Otherwise it’s awfully repetitive.

And adding, some questions are so relevant only to the person asking that they simply can’t be answered meaningfully by a total stranger. Who cares if I hate [insert any color you like, most all have been asked about, including, obliquely, black]?

I kind of wish Hermes would bring back the mini and regular berline. I thought it was a well made and practical casually chic bag... that is when i could get past the idea of it looking like a car seat!
I actually considered buying this bag (mini) at the resale market. It looks to be an easy bag to use and more dressier than the evelyne. But i cant unsee the car seat thing now

If I could go back in time, I would have accepted the etain berline I was offered, but I had other items on my wish list that seemed to distract me. Definitely do consider that mini berline!!

I do not like the quality of Hermes towels. Some are rough, the baby wash cloths are rough as well. The Avalon towels are too thick and do not wash well, and do not dry well. They are also prone to picking up bleach stains, even if just a tiny speck. I still purchase the baby wash cloths but no longer purchase from the other lines.
Does that include the beach towels? A couple caught my eye on the website recently.

@heatherB not beach towels BUT yachting towels. I have never purchased beach only stairs, avalon, baby and yachting. I have felt beach and they have that weird feeling to me as well, but never purchased - sorry I can't help on that end - they are gorgeous.

My UO is…. Most of the people who repetitively get true great offers are the ones with the “H goggles” on. Those people have bought many pieces of furniture, lots of home items, fine jewelry, watches and RTWs.

Nobody gets repeated great offers by being charming alone.

The ones that repetitively brag about great offers that they have charmingly passed on (without proof) are setting unrealistic expectations for the newbies.

Truth is usually very unpopular. Running for cover now.

My UO is I think this is more perception than reality and I guess it depends on the definition of great offers. I think great offers are ones you have on your own list. I’ll speak for myself but I also know plenty of others on here and elsewhere that never bought furniture and got what they think are great offers. In fact my first offer which I think most people would consider great was offered with ZERO Rtw or home or fj or watch purchases. Granted this was nearly a decade ago. But I continue to receive what I think are great offers and have never bought a watch or any furniture, lamp or any other home item besides some low end blankets, pillows and table ware. I will not spend my hard earned money on a 10k globe or 4k saddle box.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that it’s not just about spend at H. Otherwise those spending exorbitant amounts would always be the only ones getting offers. There’s a place for regular clients who just like to shop the brand, aren’t there just for bags, are pleasant to interact with and aren’t demanding and greedy and obsessive.

lol

At my local store I can confirm you do not need to purchase furniture to have great offers. There have been furniture items I love but H could not provide within the time frame needed. To date I haven’t purchased high end fine jewelry, watches for myself (purchased and H8 for my dh when it came out bc it’s such a great watch$ and I have enjoyed offers of qbs I didn’t know I would love (Jysperie and Constance, along with qb). Two of my friends also purchase at my local store, and they also receive offers without purchasing furniture. It is really based on the relationship with your SA, Store, SM, and supply/demand. I do not believe we receive offers for being charming, but instead for being consistent, non-reselling customers. When an offer is made it is either in person or via text by my sa asking “are you interested in x qb that I have). If I don’t want it there are no pics to see and I could see why it’s difficult to post pics of rejected bags since I do not get to see them (I know my color pallets albeit it is evolving and I know my style to know I will not like a bag combo).
by way of example, I could get another two quota bags next year (with some flexing power (Aka spending) a 3rd quota offer could be secured by some clients). However, I don’t need another qb and I already informed my sa I do not want another qb for 2025/2026 and she can take me off her “wants qb” list). That being said, I don’t ansk for qb, they anre offered. I am interested in all other things except qb (I do want a bag but non quota for 2025 and my sa is aware of same).
I do not accept two quota bags per year (usually only 1 or none). I buy used H bags as well and have them authenticated and then sent to spa to reconfirm.

Edited to add- I don’t think I’m charming although I can be. I can’t encourage enough a fluid shopping/sales rship with an SA. It really helps when they know your style. In today’s H shopping world, my store SM has told me on more than one occasion they are interested in long term clients and not influencers/bag resellers. I enjoy the ease of my shopping at H. No pressures from either side of the relationship. Hope this insight helps.

Definitely echo this. The "show your recent bags offer" thread is almost scary and discouraging.

First, the shopping experience is rather different today compared to 5,10 or 20 years ago.

I don’t know what you would consider a “great” offer. But I have noticed here that people who have received bags that I found desirable often buy lots of the H lifestyle items. And I am not saying that they just bought some hideous items. They also buy items that are pleasant too. And they can be absolutely charming also. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize we will not agree on this as your post seems to have an undertone.

My UO today: The saddle box is completely hideous although you see lots of it on the social media.

My other UO is that I like the globe, but it has no place in my home.

I love the globe too. But I also can't justify it.

What are great offers? The classic bags everyone covets. B25/30/k25 gold black gray navy colors and neutral non qb coveted bags as well. And of course mini k.
UO apparently: isn't the definition of a 'great offer' personal? To each their own?
I declined a B30 in etoupe (BORING!) but was thrilled by and accepted an offer of a B30 in VC.
