UO: someone short (I’m 5’2, medium build; in todays sizes 36 chanel or Hermes) can wear all sizes of bags well.
Here: 32K, 28K, 25K sellier; 28BBK retourne; MKII; 42 JPG fringe Kelly. It’s all good. With Celine jeans size 38 (though I could have probably gotten a 36 for a closer fit) and a reg t shirt

ETA: Crossposted in H in action. These are forever bags, or they should be for the price. So, regardless of big or small scale, they are classic. And, a big bag makes one’s backside look smaller
NOte: Victoria Beckham looked great carrying big bags
Looking GREAT, @880!!

I think it's wild too but I think I understand where people are coming from if they were to give this type of content any attention. in my experience, most luxury stores are a lot more transparent (and welcoming) than Hermes and let you buy what you want if they have it in stock OR they will help you get it from another location if they don't, or order it for you. it's usually a done deal and not an empty promise. you don't have to have a "loyal relationship" with an SA for service... of course it is NICE to. but not required. they won't say they rarely have bags (or other items they're popular for) as if you're silly for asking.

the way that Hermes doesn't help new clients get the item they came to view or buy is new and strange to some of us. I have never had to buy from other categories at other stores in order to buy a certain bag or jewelry piece or whatever popular item the brand sells. maybe people who wear head to toe luxury just don't understand that you don't have to buy all the RTW and "entry level" jewelry and housewares from other stores, a lot of people do just ask for one item they really want. And no I'm not on a loyalty journey with a car sales man at Ferarri or someone at Rolex, they're often cited for doing business this way as if everyone should be familiar with how they operate. funny people.

the Hermes website is weird in that it's impossible to get bags or bag charms. this happens with non-quota bags too in store. they don't make it easy for new clients. I guess it's their "thing" but it was really surprising to me at first. so I guessing people just want to know what they're doing "wrong" when they have a bad experience. then they look to social media for answers and social media doesn't do nuance well. they're going to rile them up and give them a pretty woman complex about it. it's best to just go shopping and talk to the SA who actually can allocate a bag.
It used to be common to order GPs, Bolides, Lindys and other bags on the website. They often sat for weeks, if not months. I don't know why Hermes continues to sell bags on line. They're obviously being bought up by resale bots, and not going to actual people.

UO: it is not OK for our SAs to not text back for days or not reply at all when the item is not available. I understand they are busy and get hundreds of texts so it is not on them but on H corporate but in any other industry if I did not reply to a client (big or small) for several days, I would be in trouble. In fact, one of my employees is currently on probation for doing just that.
Example: I need a scarf ring as a gift. I texted asked if there were options at the store. Read notice, no reply. That usually means they dont have what I need. Hmm, no scarf rings at all? Strange but who knows with H. Me a few days later: I would like to come on X day X time to buy one. Is that convenient? Read, no reply. I know it is not worth my SAs time but honestly should not be my problem.
In the mean time, we have discussed other things and my SA has been replying to that.
I am not posting this as a complaint about my SA who has the best taste, and definitely better than me, and somehow makes every shopping interaction a mini Holiday so I forgive everything else for that.
I think it is the culture and the expectations by the corporate and I think this dynamic is wrong. Should they have assistants who can reply to simple texts? Have a well paid hour off floor duty for admin? I don't know, not for me to solve H client issues. I understand they make a lot of money and have no need to cater to Onlymoda's complaints. I can still vent here. Feeling better already

How frustrating. I am also unimpressed with the customer service I have received from an Hermes SA... I had an SA in Beverly Hills. Red flag should have been her not being forthcoming, telling me they don't have appointments, never any bags even the Mini Evelyn TPM, it's first come first serve, no way for me to call in and check inventory despite living 4 hours away. But then after I bought a silver ring, she said that she can help me find a bag. Not anything like a Birkin, but like a mini Evelyn and perhaps some bag charms. She explained you have to "build relationships." I thanked her via text a couple of days later and said I hoped she should give me a heads up if they get a mini Evelyn, birdies, more silver jewelry to match my new, or rodeos, etc. Never heard a word back from her ever since. They tell you to build relationships, but then they ghost you. I'm certain they have tons of neutral Evelyns in stock. I dont live close enough to a boutique to partake in the hermes exclusive SA loyalty journey. I'm better off dropping in.

I don’t understand this obsession with Jane Birkin-fyin the birkin. I look at all the other non Hermes bags that I’ve inadvertently “Jane Birkin-fied” in the past and they look like a pos. And I don’t even want to really wear them bc they look like a pos and I should just get a new bag. For some reason only Hermes bags would someone think that looks nice. Odd

I understand the ethos, “Don’t baby the bag it’s meant to be used.” But really I don’t think they’re meant to be tore up like some of these “Jane Birkin” birkins

I attempted to tie one single twilly to a handle just a few days ago…thank you for reaffirming it’s not for me….😂🤣

Picking up on an earlier post and sentiments that have been expressed previously, I'm tired of the gazillion asks about which one I should get, which one is better, which hardware is better, and on and on. It can be amusing for a bit, and maybe I just might chime in and offer my 2 cents, but a lot of times I just want to scream "just make a decision!" Sorry if that come across crabby but it just seems like there been a lot of that lately and it's a bit irritating since I really just come here for eye candy and fluff fun. There, I got it off my chest. If this is inappropriate and needs to be removed by the mods then so be it.

Yup. And if you don’t know your own style well enough to choose for yourself you should not be spending this much money. Save it until your style has reached a place where you actually know what you want.

I can’t seem to find this on the h website so I’m posting this shot from a YouTuber trying on h Rtw. This is sasazoe trying on a vest. Why does it look like this on the side? Is it supposed to double as some kind of personal flotation device (pfd)/ life jacket or perhaps an equestrian inflatable safety vest? :confused1:
The one I saw was leather. . .i think 10K plus USD or so. I don’t care for the flotation fasteners either :)

UO is above, as I think this will be very popular in terms of ease of fit and function (as a unisex layering piece )
The flotation fasteners are a riff on old Prada sport, except these are plastic? Not sure as I didn’t look all that closely

leading on from this..
because the Birkin is a tote bag I think in any size larger than 30 it really is a 'workhorse bag' one to be loaded up for travel or work and really used for many years.
I love Jane Birkins bags because they suit her character her style they are personalised..
Would she do that if she had to pay for them?..probably yes I think she would have.
I think its one thing to deliberately trash an expensive bag to emulate a 'look' which I don't condone.
However I do agree with Birkins being used and slouching and carrying 'stuff' for that reason I'm not a fan of anything smaller than a 35.
I think pristine ladylike Birkins look fine in 25's and 30's but I expect to see the larger ones showing some slouch and grazed corners and stretched handles.

UO: do not understand the appeal of chèvre/chamkila...the so-called 'sheen' looks cheap to me...like the fake leather bags I used to buy when I was a teenager. I have a Calvi in Vert Bosphore chèvre and I love the color but the leather is a bit of a bummer compared to my other Calvis
+1 regarding UO on chamkila.

I bought a Calvi duo in chamkila and was disappointed to see how flimsy and cheap it looked. Like all my SLGs, I sent it away for monogramming. My SA had to call me back sheepishly because the stamp went through the leather! The artisan didn’t realize that the leather was so flimsy

Thankfully there was a Mysore version and it was much better.

Another UO: the artisan, really?! :girlshocked: how did you not know that chamkila was delicate?!
