What’s your unpopular Hermes opinion?

Ok, probably a super unpopular opinion.
I was just reading the Hermes London thread and whilst I'm sure there are exceptions for VIPs a Wishlist system where everyone just has to wait to get to the top of the list seems very fair to me.
I just don't understand why if you have the money to drop on a load of stuff you don't really want, you don't just go to the preowned resale market.
I get the authenticity thing but it's not that hard to get a bag either authenticated by Bababebi or (if you're like me and a bit of a worry wart) drop it off to the H spa to know categorically that it's authentic.
Why the obsession of having a bag directly from the boutique? Unless it's just a status symbol thing?
Personally I love the bags, think they look even better when they're a bit worn in so have never even asked for a new one, but if I did I'm blowed if I'd spend the next few months tallying up everything I've spent on other stuff.. honestly if it's that big a thing just get it somewhere else!
If someone asked me to «pre spend » I’d simply smile and walk out there and then. In fact I still refuse to believe such a thing exists despite people selling ‘road maps ‘ and tips on what to « pre spend ».

UO: The Mini Kelly isn’t too small (It’s not the bag … it’s you).

It fits a phone fine. Your phone is just too big.
… perhaps you need to adjust your glasses prescription to accommodate a less massive screen.

It’s not too small to close when carrying a phone in addition to anything else you need (keys, chapstick, lipstick, cash, cards)
… unless you’re high maintenance.

Justtt saying.

*ducks & braces for impact*

Kelly Doll doesn’t look like a bag to me, but a toy for kids. Why would I ever need a bag with arms and legs? 🙈 Same for Bolide with wheels, I don’t understand why H does these childish designs and somehow these bags are so sought after
Couldn’t agree more. I don’t understand. 🤷🏻‍♀️

ETA: I would add as my UO : the MK looks like a child’s bag to me. Not something a grown woman would carry. On certain people it looks fine but if the proportions are off, looks odd to me 🙈

I like small bags. It fits my keys, my lipbalm, my cash, CC, and my phone (Samsung Zflip). That's all I need.

Yup! And small bags are gentler on the shoulders and back.

My iPhone 13 mini fits just fine in the MK too, even with a protective bumper case on the phone (and it’s not a particularly small phone either…I used to use an iPhone SE, which is even smaller).

Couldn’t agree more. I don’t understand. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Where, pray tell, do you carry those glasses then? 😂

In a separate cloth tote, I imagine, together with umbrella and water bottles. I thought carrying thing that one needs is the opposite of high maintenance but that’s just me.
I hope this isn't OT but I also carry a cloth tote with my main bag - with a MK but also with larger bags. As I mostly walk around, inevitably end up buying some cakes or fresh fruit or cheese or something perishable almost daily. Sometimes, (not so much anymore because everything is on line) a newspaper or a magazine. I do the same when I am in Paris so perhaps it's a walking city thing. I agree that sometimes the MK looks like a childs bag - its not for everyone but I love it.

Are the many professional women who need large bags to carry laptops, ipad, chargers etc etc 'high maintenance?'.
I think not.
and my UO is....The mini Kelly is so popular because in regular leather its the least expensive one to buy.........
sorry/not sorry

UO (or maybe not to some?): the mini Kelly is both beautiful and a completely useless bag. Took my Box MK to an event recently, had to take my perfectly normal phone out of its case, that plus cards, lips, and a key is basically all she wrote... and every time I wanted something from the bag it was like a two minute event 🤣 Doesn't mean I don't love it but, particularly in Box, it's the only H bag I own that is so utterly useless.

UO numero deux (for today): Barenia Faubourg is NOT a heritage leather. Again, I LOVE BF, I think it's awesome, it looks amazing, smells great and isn't the you-breathe-you-scratch-it anxiety fest that is smooth Barenia. But it's basically a compromise between Barenia and Togo, it doesn't require a perfect hide, it's very new by H standards, and it should not be labeled heritage.

UO trois aujourd'hui: Related, "smooth Barenia" deserves to just be called Barenia 🤣 .

I enjoy every moment of being a high maintenance Hermes woman...
Love this

UO: there is room in the closet for a variety of sizes; in other words no signature size for these classic bags.

UO, it is easier to get a larger bag offer, and depending on the purported function, sometimes that is better and more welcome

UO: hysterically funny that size k28/b30 is now considered large lol

Here with @haute okole, big sister and little sister bags, UO: both looking equally fabulous lol, through six hours of eating  note: if you don’t spend at Hermes that day, you can afford fancy food (whether that is better or not can also be an UO)

ETA: @haute okole and I were carrying about the same amount of stuff. I just switched to a smaller wallet and had to do a little bag Tetris

Note: We didn’t plan on wearing the same bag either (it was a mere stroke of luck that we weren’t wearing the same outfit lol)

@880 and @haute okole, what a delightful feast!

My UO, I'm not a fan of the Soleil tableware. Yes, it's a bright and cheerful color, but it just reminds me of Corelle dishes. I don't know why. 🤷‍♀️
At least Corelle dishes come with a breakage guarantee! LOL

Newest UO: sometimes Hermes' pieces grow on you probably due to exposure therapy! Case in point - I used to hate the Picotin (the glorified bucket that it is...), and now? Hmm, I am potentially adding it to my future purchases list...

UO: What is up with Hermes shipping these days? They are totally cheaping out lately!!

I purchased a $5000 dress from Madison and it needed some alterations. I expected it to arrive in a wardrobe box like this... (this is something else my SA sent me)

Instead, it was unceremoniously thrown into a box like this! At least they put some tissue paper in it! Um thanks Hermes!
