What’s your unpopular Hermes opinion?

UO: blaming your SA bc you haven’t gotten a bag is pointless. It’s like shooting the messenger. It’s not up to the SA. She cannot offer what she is not authorized by her SM to offer. And getting upset and accusing your SA of lying is also pointless.

She is an employee who is required to convey the company line. For the many accusations that an SA is brusque or rude, I’ve heard many more SAs, not just mine, express exhaustion over the demands of their clientele. To the point where some SAs take mental health days or actually quit to pursue other professional endeavors.

I’m tired of the accusation that other members gatekeep when the reality is unwelcome, for example: resale will most likely be cheaper for a new client than prespend if they don’t like boutique merchandise. The truth is the brand itself gatekeeps by keeping supply artificially low and demand high. It’s not a game; it’s business for the brand; it’s shopping for the customer. And, the client is actually in charge of her own wallet. No one is forcing anyone to spend. The fact that a person didn’t get a bag or has to wait isn’t a personal indictment. It’s a bag.

JMO of course and YMMV

Or a billboard, in which case I need to be paid. To be fair, I've never been drawn to visible logos which is one of the things that appealed to me about Hermes in the first place. But Social Media has transformed the 'H' and the turnlock into signifiers, and in some ways, the company has leaned into that a bit too hard for my taste design-wise.
I just read this and literally LOL…🤣😂
I have spent the last 20 years of my life avoiding large logos….LV, Chanel, Gucci ugh and “no thank you!” Totally avoided as they love to put their glossy gold or silver embossed name on EVERYTHING (sorry, not my style at all)…always loved the understated elegance of Dior (beautiful, simple cannage), Hermes (structure and leather) and Ferragamo (similarly beautiful structure, leather with a sometimes tiny Gancini)…now I’m utterly disappointed that Dior and Ferragamo have hopped on the “branding bandwagon” and my sweet, reliable, constant Hermes has now made it so I cannot escape the “H” everywhere I look…ie Constance and Geta….mmmm quiet luxury, I just don’t think so😆

Having embarked on my Hermès 'journey' many moons ago I'm reading every post in the relationship thread and plotting how to play the 'game' in the mega competive landscape that is shopping 'H' in 2024.
I really want to 'Score' a 'Quota Bag' and am wondering what sport of 'Prespend' I can expect for a Mini Kelly.
Theres a lot of 'junk' I'm considering buying like FJ or a Watch and maybe from the home catagory a Barrel.
I may just go to Paris..What are my chances of a walk in appointment? What time shall I go and what shall I wear?
Am I better off waiting for a rainy day on the weather forcast and just jumping on Eurostar ?
If I stay in a Hotel can my concierge book me appointment?
If my DH goes to the desk will it put me in better stead as I understand men do better at 'scoring' Quota bags without appointments.
And for those who got lucky in Paris..Did you have a previous profile? what did you buy? what did you spend and which store did you visit?
Just joking of course...
But for me all the above are triggers and things that I consider pretty unpopular with us OG's
Nailed it 🤣

I would choose a Kelly Elan over a Mini Kelly.
The minute the Kelly Elan came out, and I saw it in a store, I asked my SA to get me one. I've never asked for a Kelly mini and likely won't. If it can't fit my phone, my car key, glasses, lipstick, cards and cash, I don't buy it. The mini, from what I've seen, barely fits my phone and car key.

I'm going to double down here and give another UO (yes this is partially spurred by the influencer thread):

If you can afford to buy one or multiple Hermès bags, you are either an adult human being with a career, an adult who's savvy enough to have a supportive partner with a good career, or have wealthy parents. Therefore:

1) You can navigate a retail store without the help of total strangers.
2) You are capable of using the search function on a website.
3) You don't leave bags worth five figures empty sitting alone, filled with your belongings, in places where you don't know a soul or speak the language.
4) You don't need to pay a stranger on the internet a four figure sum to tell you that being polite to a sales associate is better than being rude.
5) You know that brands do not actually have "fairies". The last "fairy" you might have believed in gave you several euros for a tooth when you were five - but c'mon, even then you knew the truth.

;)
No fairies? You broke my heart. What's next? Do not tell me it was not Santa who brough me my last bag.

And what if I have been talking the stranger the whole night? You have to start trusting people at some point! And I do think if that person is like a Spaniard or something they are extra trustworthy anyway.

CDC is literally a glorified dog leash now sold to humans at significant upmark. I still think it can look great on the right person but does make you wonder if H sees us as their pets and “the game” is actually dog training…
The picotin is worse, it's literally a feed bag. Om nom nom! LOL
The CDC is my absolute favorite thing about H. I like that it's edgy and almost looks like spiked handcuffs. Coolest theme to come out of the house imo. (And dog collars are extremely punk!)

It's kinky... and I like it. 😜

I would also like to join the UO club for Kelly Doll and Bolide on Wheels looking like toys. I'm all for quirky, but they're just daft.

I don't understand the rush or hurry for the "next" bag. I love to poke around threads to see beautiful bags, scarves, jewelry, etc., but it seems like the theme of "now that I have x bag, when can I get y?" or "I was offered x, does that mean I can get y sooner?" has been more common over the past couple years. I hope they're enjoying the now and the beautiful item they just purchased rather than focusing on "what's next"!
