What’s your unpopular Hermes opinion?

After reading a few posts (as I like to visit the forum from time to time) I will say these are a few of my UOs:

1. I feel the "mini" trend is cute for social media aesthetic; however, for me, it just doesn't cut it. I don't carry a lot BUT do love it when my stuff fits in a bag without looking bulgy.

2. This will ruffle a lot of feathers but I prefer the Lindy/Kelly/Constance/Evelyne/Jypsiere over a Birkin. I've tried a Birkin but it was becoming tiresome to carry everywhere, whereas all the ones I listed have the option of straps that can go crossbody if I want it.

3. I agree with a few who have talked about the charms...I just don't get them. It reminds me of my childhood when I would put stickers on my folder or school backpack. The charms are insanely expensive and hinder the bag's beauty, for me.

4. I like the functionality of the Calvi Duo over the Dogon compact wallet. I know, this might be crazy, but the removing of the strap drives me nuts.

5. Over the years I've grown to respect and enjoy the beauty of Hermes (bags, leather, craftmanship) and it boggles my mind how the influencer world has made it a tad-bit overrated. I see all these influencers with Hermes or "inspired" versions of Hermes and it just takes away from the brand's uniqueness, IMO.

These are some of my UOs which may or may not be UO, but felt the need to share.

My UO is that I think Hermes silver jewelry is more fun than their fine jewelry. I don't have anything from either line but, I do have an opinion.
Their silver jewelry is fine jewelry. Personally, most of their added diamonds are just distracting bling. I enjoy their more unusual shapes, and think a lot of their design elements are overdone. Their silver line has more of the unique elements, so I agree with you. Hoping to find their Galop brcelet on their site some day.

My weird self is wondering why we talk about certain H stores as being highly competitive for quota bags or other super coveted items -> aren't they all? H chooses locations based on where people can afford to buy might be, and those that can afford would be competing with others like them or wealthier to be prioritized by H SAs. Cannot think of an uncompetitive H store (outside of resellers of course). Maybe someone could direct folks to that H store, if so.

Not me, I am done. In fact, I am overdone and as another unpopular for this Forum opinion, not clear what to do with my bags as I rarely wear any now... what I do wear is super floppy like me.

I can think of several that aren’t as competitive as others. There are cities where the cost of living is lower and salaries are lower. Living in Cleveland or Denver is not going to be anywhere as expensive as San Francisco or New York or dc. In those big cities you’ll have a lot more clients with white collar jobs who can spend and spend freely. I’ve heard some absurd stories of 5x spend in places like Washington state. Something that would be unheard of in cities that don’t have as much wealth concentration.

Here’s my latest UHO, I wish H would stop with the Claire’s jewelry and 80s/90s punk jewelry designs. I’m sorry to say, but they are ugly and juvenile. I understand they are trying to appeal to Gen z and a wider audience but the designs are impractical and overdone. Also please stop with the dangly stuff hanging off of rings and bangles. It’s as annoying as people who chew loudly.

WA is home to the wealthiest Americans in the WORLD as well as a huge international community (read: Crazy, Rich Asians).

It really doesn't matter IMHO if someone wears their evelyne with the perforations facing in or facing out. From time to time this debate surfaces again and again about the "right way" to wear the bag. I say, wear how you like it and who really cares about the "right" way. It may be interesting as a point of historical reference, but perhaps, less relevant in considering modern day use. The bags are meant to enjoy as you wish. No need for a heated debate on life's simple pleasures.

I cringe every time someone uses the word “journey” in reference to Hermes. It’s luxury and it’s frivolous. Let’s use the word “journey” when we’re talking about an actual destination or perhaps a personal growth experience?
Follow up! Saw my SA this week and they used the word “journey” during our conversation 😂🤭

well said! I always thought it was silly to worry about how people wear their items. Saying people are "flexing the logo too much" is so funny coming from people who have the same bag that they also wear in public.:giggle: It's not like no one else can notice when they carry theirs "discretely." Enthusiasts can recognize a bag without seeing the logo. The Evelyne is pretty popular and associated with Hermes as much as a B K C and that's how it is worn on the website, logo facing out.

I agree, the dainty and dangly stuff in white gold looks like cheap silver plated brass with crystals 😭

As someone who has probably fuelled the discussion, I do agree all your points.
Nonetheless I do believe that the historical facts should always be correct.
