Latest opinion..
And I'm sure it will be unpopular with some.
I personally find the idea of people so desprate to spend 3k on a 'roadmap' and 'program' of tips on how to secure the purchase (I cant use the term 'score'..If I do I'll feel the need to rinse my mouth out with soapy water) of a handbag costing upwards of 8k really really sickening.
Please give your 3k to a charity, but dont throw it at some nonentity on a get rich quick scheme.
My opinion as a lover of Hermes is.....
These are just handbags, they make us happy, we feel special wearing them mine are symbols of my achievements and hard work and on that basis alone I get great pleasure from owning them.
BUT...they did'nt change my life and I wouldnt beg for one, or get in debt for one.
I wish some people caught up in the hype surrounding the brand at present would just take a step back and realise luxury goods are just that..a luxury.
Not a neccessity.
All this hype and hysteria over luxury stuff we dont actually need is really distasteful.
Its as if Hermes has become a weird cult or religion attracting some kind of bogus 'healers' or 'witchdoctors' promising salvation and healing in the form of a B/K/C if one pays a subscription to said 'healer' or 'expert'
Sorry to be such a downer.

Yayyyyy ! Well said ! Eloquently written!

What’s that phrase fools and money on a road map 😂

This may ruffle a few feathers but that is stupidity at its finest.

No one can guarantee a bag ! That’s the crux of Hermes. NO ONE!

More people need to say it how it is. Expenditure is not guaranteed!
Going into store at certain times is not guaranteed !

There is no formula.

Hermes do what they want.

Just because Jane Birkin used and abused her bags and adorned them with 50 different charms doesn’t mean that’s how a Birkin bag is “made to be worn/used”.

The Birkin is a great tote and I love a good bag charm for sure, especially the rodeo pegase. But I don’t treat my bags like Jane or the Olsen twins and the only bag I would put more than 2 charms on is probably my LV Keepall 45 or a similar large travel bag.

UO… H standard silk scarves feel and look cheap. They feel like rough bed sheets. They do not drape well. They make a synthetic sound when you are handling them… like the sound of opening up curtains quickly.

Not talking about their cashmere blends or muslin (they are great)….just their basic silk scarves.

PS. An opinion, unpopular or not - people who are easily offended and get defensive when they read UOs …. Should really avoid reading the UO thread

Now I have to confess something… My name is @papertiger and have all my H boxes. It makes not sense to me either, but the boxes are nice ones. The big ones make good storage although I don't keep the bags inside (I know a lot of people do). The worst, all my 90 scarf boxes. Most are inside another huge cardboard box just sitting there under the stairs - and I don't understand why I keep them either.

I know that there are scarf collectors who don't wear the scarves but keep them inside boxes, I saw one collector who has a scarf room, every shelf filled with scarf boxes, every one labeled and stacked. I did and could keep them that way when I had wrong 20. When one has more, there's just not enough space, plus, I love them to be visible.

When I can, if I ever can, I will just get rid of all the extra boxes.
I found that Hermes takes their boxes (which I agree are very nice boxes) very seriously. There have been a couple times I wore an item out of the store, like a recent bracelet and my rodeo. Both times they gave me a box, once even wrapped up in ribbon.

My first big spend at Hermes was for an etriviere tote. When I paid and saw how enormous the box was I suggested carrying it out to save the box for them, but my SA flashed a look of such horror that I immediately said no I’ll take it in the box. There was another time when I didn’t feel comfortable walking about SF with an enormous orange bag to carry my new Birkin so they gave me a plain white one but also stuffed in a folded orange bag for me to have. I also have a hard time parting with the orange shopping bags now.

haha. My experience At Hermes Madison has been the opposite. My SA usually just plops it in the bag. Once she did offer me a zip lock bag because we were going out to dinner afterward. I have no desire to fill my house with orange boxes.

True, true - the good thing a lot of them are stackable inside the largest bag box, like a Russian doll of orange boxes I guess. The only boxes that get ‘used’ are the twilly round boxes which turned out to be fun Xmas tree decorations (my first SA made the suggestion). 04D271A1-082F-4A54-B63F-669736602F2D.jpeg

My UO- I hate all the bag charms like the rodeos and mini bags etc. I think they’re silly and a waste of money 🤷🏻‍♀️
Generally not a fan of the “adorn the crap out of your bag” idea. (Hides behind her unadorned Birkin 🤣)
I so agree. Hermés bags' beauty lies with their perfect craftsmanship. Why hide it behind all kinds of frills?

My UO will be I genuinely love the non Mini Jypsiere. (Insert puking mental images of many here.)

But when I googled the President, I have to take back my former UO about the Evie TPM being the ugliest bag on earth. I don’t even know how the President is possible. Not even Barenia can cure that ugliness. It is so fugly that it is transcendental.
What bag are you talking about?

I never understood people saying these bags are meant to be damaged because I like to take care of all my bags regardless of the price and I think an outfit looks better overall with clean well maintained items. Then again everyone is free to use their own bags as they want !

That’s the reason why I ended up removing my twillies from the handles (shortly after buying a second set of course) but I admit I kinda like my rodeo on the B35. I did turn down a rodeo for the Evelyne though, I wanted it to be the ‘casual’ bag.

My UO: If you're going to adorn your bag with charms, have it be a collection of charms/souvenirs that tell a story (like Jane's!)... not just, like, the story of your prespend.
