This! It must be so tiring, anger consumes a lot of energy; I get exhausted just listening to it!

Unpopular opinion: I don’t like Orans. I don’t find them comfortable and are not flattering on my feet. It accentuates my pudgy looking toes and weird looking bones. Chypre are worse on my feet. I wish they made more shoes with a slight heel. 2-3 inches is ideal for me. All the shoes are either flat or platform high. I have only seen a few that are mid height and my size is always sold out. I prefer leather and not canvas sneakers. I don’t want the H logo on them. Ok it sounds like I need to move on to another brand for shoes as H is obviously not fulfilling my needs in this department.
LOL, I don't think they look good on my peasant feet as well. I'm always trying them on, because I like the look, but then pass because they don't look good on me.

I disagree on the coffee part. Take out coffee is expensive, and if you can cut it out, save the money and then purchase a handbag that will likely always retain its value, well then that's a good choice.
I think there was a thread on this back in. 2008. I don’t recall if I participated or not, but I remember it felt good to cut out a few Starbucks a day. Maybe it was only psychological, but whatever helps one justify the price of a bag is good by me (assuming one can afford it lol). Plenty of others liked to mix high and low, and I know that there is still a thread for this.

Unpopular opinion: I like the RTW and other offerings more than bags, shoes, scarves. I’d keep shopping, even if I received no bag offers. Recently I’ve preferred the men’s RTW line to the women’s, and the MtM SA was telling me that I could either possibly fit into men’s size 42 jackets (Madison does not normally order this size) but it’s possible. Or for a 25% up charge they could perhaps make something from a current men’s pattern in my size. The delay wouldn’t be as long as bespoke (as a toile would not have to be made). IMO this is a better option than some current women’s RTW for me (which I assume is also an unpopular opinion).

Very mixed feelings. On the one hand, we purchase things not only because "it looks pretty" but as a signal to others about our values and lifestyles. It's why brand positioning exists--the company guides us into those boxes based on price/marketing, and it gets reinforced in the wider world based on who else is buying the products. When we see others wearing the brand who do not dress or portray themselves as we ourselves want to be perceived, it can cause dissonance with whether we still want to be a walking billboard for the brand by wearing their products. While it's really hard for this dissonance not to devolve into petty classism, racism or other "isms," I don't think it's wrong to look at a brand and not identify with it anymore based on catering to a different demographic or going too mainstream.

On the other hand... I think there is a schism between social media and reality. Maybe this is unpopular but I still do not witness many people walking around in or with H (even bad dupes), and is it even possible for $10k bags to go mainstream? I think it's easy for YT and the 'Gram to convince us everyone's buying Hermes, everyone's getting bag offers... but I've seen just 15 or so bags in 5 years. Do others really see them IRL as ubiquitous?
For the most part, I agree with you. However, my specific problem with Birkins and Kellys is that they are now flashy, and too widely recognized as expensive. I don't feel as comfortable as I once did carrying them.

This has zilch to do with class or race. It is the notoriety of the bag itself, the ridiculous lengths that people are willing to go to in order to get one, and the proliferation of flexers and fakes that make Birkins and Kellys tiresome and undesirable to me. I detest the frenzy.

Look, I bought stock in the company when it went public. Technically I am the LAST person who should complain about it. But it is what it is.

I repeat, I think that only those of us who remember a completely different, much more user friendly Hermès from decades ago can relate. I miss the old Hermès. But, time marches on. Companies change.

My unpopular Hermes opinion is their ready-to-wear collection are somehow boring to me almost every season because they keep repeating the same style over and over again with not much new creative look. They are repeating the same style with only different colours according to season and their women’s t-shirt somewhat doesn’t fit well on the shoulder (either too small on the shoulder and too big around the torso or the other way around) and I see bride de gala prints almost every season (I do love the prints but not on everything) 😅

A micro bag is just a bag charm. I hate carrying a second bag to fit all the things that might not fit in my handbag (unless it's a laptop/documents, or gym kit, which are obviously different use cases). It feels inefficient and poorly organised to carry a handbag that can't even fit the basics. The only mini H bag I have is the Verrou in my profile pic, and even though I love the style and the colour, there is a reason it is actually my least used H bag.

UO - because I can never imagine needing to carry so little that it would fit in a mini bag, I feel like a mini bag signals dependence on others to carry things. I hate feeling dependent on others. On the plus side though, it would rule out DH and sons asking me to carry all their stuff for them, so maybe I shouldn't be so quick to condemn!

I see H bags quite rarely in Melbourne, and then usually in the vicinity of a boutique.
Well, multiple ladies-in-waiting, courtiers, and security details notwithstanding, Queen Elizabeth was never seen in public without her quite adequately sized Launer handbags. I think mini bags are simply a wildly impractical trend.

So my UO is because they are boring is exactly the reason why I like H RTW. Granted the fit and sizing can be inconsistent but basic pieces can easily be mixed and matched with other brands. It is also much more affordable when compared to Chanel or Dior. If I want something flashier, there are other brands to fulfill that need. I work in a field that is still pretty conservative so these low key so called boring affordable pieces fits my criteria. 😂

This UO might ruffle some feathers…

I don’t see a problem using update services to secure bags and SLGs on H.com for personal use. With the random drop times and low stock of leather items on the website it can take foreverrrr (if you’re lucky!) just to finally snag the bag you want.

Not using an update service was cute for a while… Being met with the “oops you just missed it hahahahaa” message, figuring next time i’ll make sure to keep the tab open or just keep refreshing, or next time i’ll be faster. After a while that gets f*ing annoying when you just want *one* freaking bag 😭

Of course these products get abused by resellers who snatch up as many bags as possible to resell as soon as they drop. And that just ruins it for everybody! But imo it levels the playing field against them since they’re not going to stop anyway 🤷‍♀️. I also think a lot more people are using these services than you’d think 👀

In an ideal luxury shopping world, Hermès would be impenetrable to bots and everyone would have a fair chance to get what they want off the website, but in this age of technology and AI i doubt that’s possible.

Agree! Unpopular opinion: I prefer not to wear a head to toe look from one designer (though I may have done it today, so I’m a bit of a hypocrite lol)

update service

I feel like a dinosaur, but I don’t know what this is either lol. Unpopular opinion: I don’t look on h.com at all. I expect my SA to be my update service. :)

Yup, me too...apparently I'm a dinosaur!! I don't know what the update service is, either, and maybe worse, I don't care! :P Your version of an update service sounds absolutely ideal! :flowers:

I don't understand the hype around the twice yearly sales. The items available look like out of date RTW and shoes that no one wanted.

Some years I absolutely agree.

I tend to regret buying every pair of H shoe at the sale lol (then again, hope springs eternal, and I would want to shoot myself if I paid full price for a shoe that was not comfy or didn’t fit )

Another unpopular opinion: I’m not fond of the Kelly Moove bag. Which no doubt means it will be the most popular bag of 2024 lol

Kelly moove is just the less flattering stepchild of the berline (imo)
