Haha, this is me too, my family reckon I have Hobbit feet, minus the hairy toes! Oran’s just look terrible on me, although the heeled sandal version (Premier) look fine. This! It must be so tiring, anger consumes a lot of energy; I get exhausted just listening to it!
Unpopular opinion: I don’t like Orans. I don’t find them comfortable and are not flattering on my feet. It accentuates my pudgy looking toes and weird looking bones. Chypre are worse on my feet. I wish they made more shoes with a slight heel. 2-3 inches is ideal for me. All the shoes are either flat or platform high. I have only seen a few that are mid height and my size is always sold out. I prefer leather and not canvas sneakers. I don’t want the H logo on them. Ok it sounds like I need to move on to another brand for shoes as H is obviously not fulfilling my needs in this department.
Yes, we all try to follow the whole, "Judge not..." ethos, but the fact is-the ability to judge people and circumstances is built into human instinct. If you are carrying an easily identifiable i.e. (HERMÈS) Birkin or Kelly that costs thousands of dollars, you're gonna get judged up the ying yang!I try not to assume anything by what someone is driving or wearing tbh; I know we all have first-glance hasty opinions, but hopefully, most people can humanize, empathize, and understand their way past them, as people are not the sum of their belongings. And hopefully also have social and spatial awareness regarding when something is carried or worn. Probably an unpopular opinion as well?We all think differently, variety being the spice of life and all!
Agree. But i have always seen quite a bit in NY (mainly UES) and in other places. So, yes, somewhat ubiquitous. Especially what u I consider the UES trifecta : Hermes, VCA, Chanel rtw. Recently, I’ve also seen a lot in Singapore and Courcheval France.Very mixed feelings. On the one hand, we purchase things not only because "it looks pretty" but as a signal to others about our values and lifestyles. It's why brand positioning exists--the company guides us into those boxes based on price/marketing, and it gets reinforced in the wider world based on who else is buying the products. When we see others wearing the brand who do not dress or portray themselves as we ourselves want to be perceived, it can cause dissonance with whether we still want to be a walking billboard for the brand by wearing their products. While it's really hard for this dissonance not to devolve into petty classism, racism or other "isms," I don't think it's wrong to look at a brand and not identify with it anymore based on catering to a different demographic or going too mainstream.
On the other hand... I think there is a schism between social media and reality. Maybe this is unpopular but I still do not witness many people walking around in or with H (even bad dupes), and is it even possible for $10k bags to go mainstream? I think it's easy for YT and the 'Gram to convince us everyone's buying Hermes, everyone's getting bag offers... but I've seen just 15 or so bags in 5 years. Do others really see them IRL as ubiquitous?
Well, I'll tell you one thing: If Hermès is catering to the ogre market now, I am really disappointed in the brandMy latest unpopular opinion: I don’t understand why the Heidi gloves are so lumpy and wide in the wrists. Maybe they were meant for Shrek and not for humans.

That is their aspirational carrot on a stick.Well, they brought out their (lousy, in my unpopular opinion) make-up line to drawn in that crowd. "Consolation merchandise," as @880 points out.
Agree totally! But that is the opinion of most on TPFoff to google NOKD lol
My unpopular opinion: the cultural obsession today with the brand is toxic. Shopping at Hermes is one thing, but I can't even watch social media content about Hermes anymore because you always see a few themes come through in the content itself or the comments: 1. Snobbishness about it being too mainstream, 2. Anger about not getting a quota bag, 3. Desperation to get a quota bag, 4. Random academic commentary about how to look "old money" - as if that applied to even 1% of people on earth. There's just so many emotions in it. IMO, this is just shopping. We're talking about accessories here not a way of life.
My unpopular opinion is I absolutely love buying Hermes for me, my girls and my home because it fits my aesthetic. I buy Hermes because I wanted to replicate the style of those elegant woman I saw in Asia in the 70’s at various Embassy parties. Influencers and their photos don’t bother me because I don’t see or look at them and neither do my kids. How influencers or anybody pays for their bags, whether on credit, are they in debt or not, is of no concern to me, because it is none of my business. Judging people based on what they have or do not have says more about the “judge” and not the person being judged.

I didn't say that people are the sum of their belongings. I said that you can tell a lot about a woman by the type of handbag she carries. Totally different.I try not to assume anything by what someone is driving or wearing tbh; I know we all have first-glance hasty opinions, but hopefully, most people can humanize, empathize, and understand their way past them, as people are not the sum of their belongings. And hopefully also have social and spatial awareness regarding when something is carried or worn. A lofty sentiment indeed. However, it is not "just a handbag" when it is a 20K Birkin and everyone knows it because of social media. It tells people that you have enough money to BUY it. Depending upon the circumstances, it could put you in danger.I was just going to say that a handbag says nothing about the person who carries it. It’s just a handbag. (And I love handbags! They still don’t tell anything about me, other than the fact that I have so many of them, because I’m obsessed about them.)
so true. I had to look these up NOKD (not our kind dear) and IYKYK (if you know you know) (LOL)
A a rule, I consider IYKYK kind of dressing is ridiculous, very pleased to move towards NNTKWIAWOHMIP (nobody needs to know what I am wearing or how much I paid) I just made that up actually and delighted that Hermes has lots of items produced in very small quantities that never make it into social media frenzy.
It appears that some of our UNPOPULAR OPINIONS are a bit triggering and indeed, unpopular. Rest assured, those of us who are disenchanted with Hermès are well aware that we don't have to buy the bags. AFAIK though, we are also free to gripe about them.🤣😂🤣My unpopular opinion about Hermès on this snowy Sunday is that if you believe that Hermès is any (or all!) of these things:
too middle-class for you; aspirational but not luxury enough (for you); terribly boring; ugly; a den of vipers populated by scheming SAs and overrun by horrific customer service; too overexposed for you; purchased by people whom you deem to be NOKD; declined in quality to the point that it's like any other brand -
you can stop buying it. No one is forcing anyone to patronize their local Hermès boutique![]()
A micro bag is just a bag charm. I hate carrying a second bag to fit all the things that might not fit in my handbag (unless it's a laptop/documents, or gym kit, which are obviously different use cases). It feels inefficient and poorly organised to carry a handbag that can't even fit the basics. The only mini H bag I have is the Verrou in my profile pic, and even though I love the style and the colour, there is a reason it is actually my least used H bag.Unpopular opinion.....
I think Mini and Micro bags are'nt bags.....
They're jewellery.
Essentials one may need to carry in ones handbag in the 21st century are mobile phone, keys, perhaps glasses, lipstick, hand sanitiser, some cash.....
I can list two of those items that I doubt would fit in a Mini Kelly.
and off topic but in response to @MonsoonBirkin I see Lots of Hermes bags on a daily basis in London.
Mainly Kelly 28's and 32's, Mini Kelly, Birkin 30's and Evelynes
And why do you feel that your opinion is unpopular? My unpopular opinion is I absolutely love buying Hermes for me, my girls and my home because it fits my aesthetic. I buy Hermes because I wanted to replicate the style of those elegant woman I saw in Asia in the 70’s at various Embassy parties. Please quote the post that says that if someone saves to buy a bag, then the bag becomes undesirable to others. I haven't seen any such post. Perhaps I missed it.My unpopular opinion after reading some comments in feh past couple of weeks in this thread is:
Hermes is not Fight Club! For god’s sake some comments here are atrocious. H is for absolutely anyone who has the credit card or cash to be able to pay for the item. It is not a privilege to buy an H item, it’s an expense. Anyone that can buy it is entitled to it, just like the rest of us. I am happy when a lucky person that is not a regular (regular being some of us that spend a lot regularly on random crap to be remembered by our SA whether we want to admit it or not) is offered a bag!
Leave the snobbiness behind that if someone saved to buy a bag, then you no longer like H, as it’s just another brand making money.
100%I try not to assume anything by what someone is driving or wearing tbh; I know we all have first-glance hasty opinions, but hopefully, most people can humanize, empathize, and understand their way past them, as people are not the sum of their belongings.
