What’s your unpopular Hermes opinion?

My unpopular opinion is that many of the PF threads should be started anew annually. Some are, but many are too long, and impossible to search. At the start of each thread, should be answers to FAQs for anyone new to the game.
My unpopular opinion on this (since there seems to be a bunch of forum opining) is that a first post with FAQs is great, but a sticky that takes up almost the whole page, every page, is not so great; followed by a second possibly not so unpopular opinion: that no one seems to read the stickys anyway, as right below them are inevitably multiple posts asking the exact same questions already answered at top of page.
Third unpopular op of the day is that there are a bunch of reference threads that are well over a decade old and locked....these don't help anyone unless they are unlocked and updated. Plenty of people here who love to update threads ;)

As someone who recently tried to help with the answer to a reference question I’m becoming somewhat more sympathetic to newbies looking for help. It’s really rather difficult to find current info gathered in one place, which is what I think a reference section should be. My unpopular opinion is that sometimes the newbies are right.

I’d rather spend my retail dollars on select H RTW than H bags at this point. I can see getting better cost per wear
from a fabulous coat than from another bag. At least at current boutique prices for box, barenia and other heritage saddle leathers.

i honestly think some of my all leather Birkenstocks are better made than some H shoes.

Not sure if this is very unpopular but:

Can H put up more mod shots of the scarves on their website? More knot/styling variations, models with different skin tones? Like what are we supposed to do with a single picture? It drives me nuts. I will happily buy things in store but I would like to have an idea of how things wear before asking my SA.
Perhaps my unpopular opinion that counts against this…

The first website shot of any textile should be the lie flat. It’s 100% annoying to see it at first glance styled in such a way that I can see just 5% of the pattern.

That shoe part, 100%, I find most H shoes to be pretty disappointing quality-wise. I also agree on the current boutique prices for saddle leathers.

My latest unpopular opinion is that I really, really dislike the sellier Birkin. I saw one today in person (I completely forgot to take a photo). Maybe I consider myself a Birkin purist, in the sense that Birkins are tote bags, big slouchy tote bags. I suppose it’s because my first impression and discovery of them was a photograph of Jane Birkin looking so hip and relaxed with her messy and super slouchy Birkin. If I want a rigid bag, I’ll carry a sellier Kelly. Either way, it just looked very pretentious and uptight.

Not sure about quality (eg. not falling apart) but all their shoes tear my feet apart or create painful corns. I was wearing men's so it wasn't just my foot being too wide etc (i have long feet but not wide). Not having this problem with Dior or Prada. Disappointed.

Well I guess that will be the ultimate test, right?
The great sorting of those who actually love those bags (and who have all my respect, after all grannycore is a respectable style, just like any other ) from the fakers, poseurs and impostors who will therefore be exposed...? Yay?

Anyhow, anyone who thinks the demand for these bag cannot crash is delusional. Every other cool/it/fashionable bag before has had its time and then faded away. Not so long ago, when I was a girl, nobody would have dreamt of stepping outside carrying a K besides your grandma. Actually H bags were the kind of stuff Bernadette Chirac's muppet was clutching on Canal+ Guignols  (IYKYK)
Are links allowed?

Again IYKYK!

Their coolness is totally manufactured and will die down at some point.

Again, that is fine, as a Bal Motorcycle GGH fan myself, only now scratching this itch 20 years after the "it" moment, everyone around me thinks my bags are passé and that I look like a hasbeen. Fine with me!

But let's get real here, the H bubble cannot not burst. That would go against all the laws of the univers, from gravity to Divine Law!
Armbaggedon, I say, and that will be a sight to behold!

Cheers!
:yahoo:

Me: Does not matter if the hype dies down, actually i will be very happy as i can enjoy using my bags in peace

it is "Armbaggedon" only for those who bought these bags as "Investments" with idea of reselling not for others who are intending to use them for a long time :)

No, this is valid! Both your opinion and @gogingercat's make sense to me, and I agree with both! There should be a lie-flat photo for each scarf and there should also be a range of examples. Not every scarf needs 20 knots, but there should be a range of knots across the entire line.

And with that, my unpopular opinion on this subject: if a scarf comes in multiple colors, the website should show them all together. It's ridiculous to keep loading more to look for new scarves and see the same ones in different colors. I'm not a coder or a web expert, but wouldn't it make more sense to have, say, all the scarves with design A, followed by all the scarves with design B, etc.?

As a new member, this thread has been an hysterical read - thank you all!!!

My unpopular opinion (among others already mentioned): I HAAAAATE the color orange. Not just on leather, on anything. And boy, does Hermes ever try to incorporate orange on every. single. silk.

The SA at my first (and so far only) store visit was taken aback when I had to say I dislike orange… “but it’s our color!” Maybe yours, not mine!!! Also, my initials do not include the letter “H,” so don’t show me stuff covered in Hs!!! :P
