What’s your unpopular Hermes opinion?

I think my 'unpopular opinion' may in fact prove very popular but here goes.
A 'Hermes Fairy/Angel' aka Sales assistant who gets a client what they want is actually just doing what they should be doing-
Meeting client needs and putting money in the till.
There is no such thing as a 'fairy' or 'angel' when it comes to them being there to get to part with your money for the greater good of store sales targets.
Every time I see a SA referred to as such I cringe.
And another opinion...
There appears to be a newer strain of SA coming through..Those who smelling the hunger and desperation to be one of the 'chosen' to receive a bag offer see clients as cash cows.
Sensing the eagerness to please them, the SM etc etc they 'suggest' items from harder to shift categories and hence the flood of new unused or almost new home-ware,fine jewellery, watches and rtw of the resale market often at highly discounted prices.
LOL, yes. Just a person doing their job of getting you to buy stuff. My SA is an angel because she basically leaves me alone!

1) I get the sense that even within this community there is an effort by some people to assert themselves as sartorially superior over other H consumers in this forum. My unpopular opinion is that such ideas are arbitrary and and dependent on the consumer's needs and wants. I guess if you get a kick out of it that's... sad.

2) Echoing what was said previously- some threads on this forum has turned into a circlejerk and needs more moderation.

Boom!

There you go.
Thread calls itself "unpopular opinions". Implying that people are allowed to come and voice, well, *unpopular* opinions. But, hey, the minute people get their feefees hurt, there needs to be "moderation" a.k.a. censorship.

And yet, the language in the thread has remained remarkably civil, reserved and restrained. No bird names, no crude nor crass language. None of that.

Oh well, did not expect much anyways. LOL!

My unpopular opinion: anyone who cannot stand hearing other people's opinions, especially about anything Hermès related, no matter how different, should just stay off the internet.

LOL no!
At least not that I am aware of...
My comment was more of a preventative bark, you know, what with *calls for moderation* when absolutely nothing was said that could be construed as needing such moderation. In other words, it is more of a case of "I do not like what was said, so somebody should step in and slap that mouth shut".
Always suspicious of that attitude... Especially in a thread CLEARLY labelled as *unpopular H opinions".

This thread has been considerably off topic, please stick to topic :tender:

Hi! Please stay on topic, posting *your* unpopular opinion :tender:

Hi! Let's get back to topic please :tender:

This thread has been requiring much clean up of off topic posts again. It's currently off topic, please be respectful of thread topics :tender:

There’s way too much off topic in this thread, we’ll continue to remove off topic posts. If the same folks keep posting off topic then we would need to remove the option for them to participate in this thread.
This isn’t a general chat thread.

Another Unpopular opinion..
having just seen @Meta's post of the Holiday packaging for this year I find it a bit.....Dull.
It lacks the vibrancy of previous seasons offerings and just lacks that 'wow' factor.
Shall I run and hide now???
I agree. The Christmas packaging and the gift themselves, this year and last are a bit lackluster.
Probably getting to be a popular opinion, me three! It lacks a pop of red perhaps?

Related to the above, my unpopular opinion is some beautiful silk Carré designs do not translate to CSGMs. I'm not going to name designs, but sometimes I worry that someone in the scarf dept needs an eye test.

As for scarf designs not being what they used to be, that's not false memory or rose-tinted nostalgia, it's technology replacing former artisanal practice:
1. Laser printing brought in for mass production a decade ago have created some beautiful gradient effects, but also completely blank reverses.
2. Colour families brought have replaced what's best for an individual scarf design.
3. More and more artists creating designs as CADs and not as hand-drawn illustrations, paintings or other hand-crafted means. Software is programmed a certain way, good for cartoons, not for idiosyncratic art, thus designs look computer generated - which is what they are.

Next H AI scarf designs?
Happily, I see people are already bored of anything 3D-printed otherwise H could just churn out 'vegan' Orans.
I was telling my SA a few weeks ago that the designs have tilted towards cartoonish, both in style and colors. The only scarves I’m buying these days are reinterpretations of classic designs.

Unpopular opinion:

H gives out way too many boxes. It is a pain to toss them. They could really cut down on the packaging and reduce the environmental footprint. It also seems very frivolous to put every single item in a designated box. It is a marketing technique to make the purchase experience and each item seem special and make sure the customer gets that dopamine hit so they can come back for more for like Pavlov's dog. Unfortunately while my rational self knows this, my heart is not immune. I guess I am the dog.

Side note: I recently learned that people sell their boxes to influencers. I am not surprised but at the same time now there's a black market for packaging? That is nuts.

You can ask them to not box your things if you don’t need/ want the boxes.
