My unpopular opinion. I really love some of the mens styles and muted colorways, and i wish they would consider some for women. I buy some, but even the smallest sizes are sometimes too boxy and cannot be altered. May new favorite shirt in black watch techo fabric in the smallest men’s size:

Love this shirt! The silhouettes and aesthetic of the most recent women’s RTW collection, at least, look very promising for those of us who eschew cute pink and logos.

stamping a brand on shoddier items (see dog raincoat above)
I guess my unpopular opinion is I seem to be the only one who likes the dog raincoat :graucho:

Other brands took a dive, too because the definition of luxury changed. It isn't about the same kind of quiet wealth that Grace Kelly might have shown, things are more overt now, louder, and (I'm sorry if I'm offending people, but this is my unpopular opinion), perhaps more vulgar.
With all the conversations surrounding "quiet luxury" and "stealth luxury" on social media and the rise of The Row, I would expect this to change soon.

I like it, but as you or someone else posted, it doesn't really do what it needs to do. Like, style-wise it looks ok, but not properly functional (e.g. they're cutting corners on making it truly useful and luxurious).

We'll see if Hermes can course correct--of if it wants to....

That's the thing! Hermes feels like LMVH now.

Not impressed with the new dog raincoats. I like that they’re water resistant, but there should have been more thought regarding design and practicality. However a lot of raincoat designers fail on this. Maybe this is ok for a light drizzle but coats like this offer zero protection from the wet weather on the underbelly and legs. I would love to see a rain jacket with more coverage underneath. Perhaps a zip closure type full jacket with forearms. This jacket just looks like a sheet of polyamide. Also color choices are drab and beige is a terrible choice. Dogs outside in rain? That beige jacket will be brown in no time.

But this model is perfect <3

I have a definite unpopular opinion and apologies in advance to anyone who likes what I happen to dislike as of course it’s all subjective taste.

Aside from the Birkin and Kelly I haven’t seen an Hermes bag with any kind of interesting design. The Constance is a basic flap bag with a big logo on it though at least you can tell it’s a designer bag. On the other hand the garden party and picotin to me look like basic bags I’d see in a mall or outlet. They don’t look expensive to me. I get the whole stealth wealth thing but I’m not going to pay that much for a simple tote that has no interesting design features to make it elegant. Bags I like are things like the LV Capucines, YSL Sac De Jour/Cassandra/Envelope, Prada Double, Lady Dior, Bulgari serpentine, celine belt bag etc.. a few of these are top handle totes and so I get Hermes creating something different but please make it look good!! The Garden Party has less interesting design than a bag from Coach or Tory Burch.

Given the budget and resources Hermes has I’m surprised they haven’t tried to design more iconic elegant expensive looking designs. It’s been decades since the Birkin and Kelly were launched and in all that time they haven’t been able to design something that is as timeless?

Forgive me for this is quite a long one! I remember way back in 2007 I went to London with my Mum to go to Buckingham Palace, as a tourist not a guest LOL. And afterwards we went to Harrods. Whilst there I finally plucked up courage to venture into the Hermes department, and was greeted by a very lovely lady who was happy to show me all the things I asked to look at, I remember holding a black leather PM Picotin, which I believe the price was around £950. I then asked to look at scarves and was shown all the ranges from 90cm down to the 45cm. I ended up choosing a lovely 45cm scarf which the lovely SA showed me how to do different knots with it. And when I paid she gave my Mum a few perfume samples. We had a lovely time. Anyway this little encounter sealed my new Hermes obsession, and I knew I had to have a bag at some point. I used to meet up with some PF members back then and we would go shopping in NBS store, just wander in and look at things all over the store, and eventually one of us or a few of us would buy something. i would even go on my own and just wander in to the NBS store or maybe the Selfridges H bit. I did have to hunt for my Evelyne which I was able to get in the end in Paris thanks to a lovely PF member, back in the day. My next bag purchase was the black PM Picotin, It was no longer 950 pounds though! which I bought in Selfridges after just walking in and looking around, and being served by a wonderful SA who was happy to show me the bags I wanted to look at. And i do believe that was my last in store purchase. And it was a wonderful experience.
So my thing is, after reading through the London Boutique thread and reading about all the hoops one has to jump through now even to just get into a store and once in, it doesn't sound like you can just wander around anymore, well it gives me the ICK!!! Shopping shouldn't be this hard, I think it's crazy. Even if I had bucket loads of money I don't think I could be arsed with it. I don't want to work hard to spend my money, I've worked hard to earn it. So I know I am very very (never say never) unlikely to ever go into an Hermes store ever again. I just can't be arsed. Which is a shame as I used to enjoy looking at the scarves and selecting something, and scarves are about the only thing I would contemplate buying now. so it'll be online for me from now on. And that makes me sad as its just not the same as a lovely carefree in store experience. So my unpopular opinion is, it just ain't worth it...

The difference in customer experience from 2007 to now is something I’ve been thinking of lately. I first started my dive into luxury goods in 2007, when I lived in the UK. I liked browsing the Hermes shops in London, looking at the beautiful scarves and getting some cute SLGs. I don’t remember meeting snooty SAs there ever. I bought my Birkin for £5000 after some time only on a small prespend and without a particularly strong relationship with an SA. I don’t see how that could happen these days.

And my personal unpopular opinion: I don’t like Oran sandals and it would be nice if they offered the same variety of color in their other footwear.

My unpopular opinion is: Hermes doesnt owe anyone anything if its your anniversary, bday, honeymoon, etc. i cringe at those who make a scene and complain their anniversary is ruined or their dinner appt is cancelled because theyve been waiting in line to be entertained by an SA at the leather dept. This happened in Madison store nyc during the opening week and the tall manager handled the manipulative customer in a cool and calm way. Im like, dude, i was here 2 hrs before you, wait for your turn lol
