What's the craziest thing you've done to be able to afford the bag you wanted?

Sigh. Today I increased my credit card debt a little more by buying my second pre-loved balenciaga city. Was just browsing when I came across the black city which I have been DYING for. My birthday is in a few days so I'm justifying it 🙈

It's not that crazy... But I sold 4 bags and a wallet on eBay to buy the Pochette Metis...
It's not that I'm tight on money... But I wanted to get rid of all that "junk" anyway and to sell it for a "good cause" (lol) just made parting easier... It was a bunch of MbMJ bags and a Burberry and an APC one.. I didn't loose money on any of these! Cause I got all of them for a total steal years ago and sold them for the same price or even over value ;D
Tbh it's REALLY liberating to get some space and also not to buy MORE but rather replace/change from/to my collection.
I really try to buy only "classic" bags from now on.. No more crazy colours or shapes and more in a "mature" price range of €500 upwards!

Walking for a whole day in Paris doing my shopping instead of buying a metro ticket. Having lunch at McDonalds after getting my LV Speedy and Goyard Okinawa Tote... My feet hurt so much that I quit after the first day of walking and took the metro as much as possible afterwards... Wouldn't recommend excessive walking as a means of saving money :lawl:

And I never ate at a French McDo again. It wasn't different from everywhere else, but everytime you don't eat French/proper food when in Paris you waste a meal...

adopting other people's spending and bag-buying habits

I only recently understood that I don't feel comfortable to spend above a certain amount for a bag or other items, and that I don't need multiple bags serving the same purpose - it makes me uncomfortable.

also wanting a specific item but not being willing to spend the required amount and then settling for a cheaper alternative, only to not be happy with that and turn around and go for the more expensive option - costing me more money than if I had gone for the more expensive option in the first place

I much prefer having the one perfect item

Once I returned from Italy where I saw Braccialini bags. I loved them all, but mostly the one in a shape of a pumpkin. I've made some research and occasionally found one girl making fabulous felted bags, in various shapes - vegetables and flowers. I spent a month searching and learning to felt and finally felted my pumpkin bag myself!

This may be a winner! I would do this for an HG bag, no question. No specific HG in mind just now, but what fun!

Love this!!!

I was so jetlagged by the time I was done with the trip. It was hard to believe that the same bag would cost so differently amongst different countries. The bag in question was a porosus croc Kelly, so plane ticket was definitely cheaper than that 30% difference.:p

love reading these stories!! i think the cross-country flight for an hermes kelly wins it for me!!

I'll post the photo of the bag once I'm home from my current trip. The funny thing is after all these years, I still hadn't used it once.
