I regret buying all those faux leather bags that were trendy but would not ever last three years. I had so many and the total cost could afford me a designer bag. So now, lesson learned, I save up for a nice designer purse instead. It not about the quantity

DKNY large shopper's tote. ( the one that looked like prada's saffiano lux tote). It was my first designer bag after months of savings, i've got it for more than it should be (£250) yikes. And i barely used it. I was a bag noob back then. And i havent seen the bag for more than a year now (i am living out of town, the bag is in my parents place). Yeah, im quite keen to go home and figure it out whether i ll love it again. But yeah, overpriced and for that price i rather buy myself something nice from some other designer. I find it hard to part with it since it was my first bag :/

A black embossed Mulberry. My Mom had passed away and I needed a little TLC. I carried it once. It made me sad. I sold it.

I'm sorry for your loss. I completely understand. My dad passed away last week and I am thinking (obsessing) about buying a bag for the same reason. I've been a bit afraid of ending up with a bag that I associate with his passing. Maybe I'll wait a bit.

So sorry for your loss. Hopefully if you do get a bag it will be one that reminds you of your happy memories with him.

Bright colored bags! I'm such a neutrals girl... I've realized I need to stick to browns, blacks, and grays. Also trying to buy less in general and really USE my bag. Perhaps just stick to a few really good bags.

You're welcome :-). The things you're afraid of are very real - once you hit that next higher price point, it stays there. And that scares me A LOT!!

And yes, you're right - there will ALWAYS be another ONE!!!

It doesn't have to stay there. It didn't with me.

I've bought four bags this year. To begin, I got a Chanel caviar hobo & LV Josephine PM -- both preowned and priced VERY well. The Chanel was $700 (80% off retail) and the LV was $445 (50% off retail). I'd never spent $700 on a bag and thought it was insane ... but it was a Chanel and I'd always wanted one. Same with the LV. I made sure to get exactly the type/style of each bag I wanted before I pulled the trigger.

The last two were vintage Coach -- one $100 and one $80. And I'm done. My collection is complete. Small, yes, but that guarantees each bag will be used often. Chanel flaps don't interest me and neither do other LVs. Happy with what I have. Each is very high quality, in excellent condition and will last years. They were already 10 to 20 years old and still look brand new. One of the Coach bags is caviar leather made in Italy just like my Chanel.

I still think $700 for a bag is insane and I won't do it again. Doing it once made me sweat, and I dealt with a heavy load of guilt for a couple of months afterward. But it was a one-time thing. Now I'm happy with the decision; it's the most adored and babied bag in my collection. I fulfilled a longtime dream of owning a Chanel under my terms.

And that's enough.
