I usually use a moisturizing shampoo from the health foods store, and the best thing I did for my hair was when I switched to using shampoos without any parabens, phthalates, sulfates, etc.
Once in a while, I will warm up a little almond oil (or jojoba oil) and massage my hair and scalp with it. I then shampoo it thoroughly after an hour or so, and it makes the hair feel very silky and easy to style.
