What is the most that you'd spend on a handbag?

Whatever I could afford. For example, if a $300 bag put a strain on my budget, I probably wouldn't get it. But if I had enough to pay for a $3000 bag and not have any financial repercussions, then I would look at something a little more expensive. Right now I'm not making a whole lot of $$$, so I won't be dropping $3000 anytime soon. Someday! (fingers crossed)

There is a limit for what I would consider absurd. I probably won't own a Birkin. Cost aside, the bag doesn't speak to me very much, but that range is a little ridiculous imo. I dont' think I could ever bring myself to spend 10,000+ , no matter how much I like the bag.

I think the most I spent on a bag was $110. I try to keep myself on a budget, and look for good deals in certain stores. Most of the bags I have are under $100, and I'm happy with them. :) But I wouldn't mind spending alot of money on a purse, if I could afford it, lol.

Bump!
I was just talking with a PF friend and she was challenging me with pros & cons on a bag I wanted to buy. She asked me a very sensible question: "If something would happen to my bag and it would get ruined, would I freak out or be able to handle it?" I pondered for just a minute and realized the answer! We are talking about a bag that I would have to save up for since I am not in the "higher echelon" bracket. After giving it thought. I would wait. Spending close to $3,000, has to be from a customer that has many in that price range and wouldn't miss one.

I guess, it all comes down to what we are comfortable and can comfortably afford! IMO, I can appreciate any price bag as long as it is simple, classy, and very well made. :smile1:

Maybe $1,000 - although I just bought a Gucci for $800 & can't bring myself to clip the tags. I guess as long as I can return it (Bluefly 60 days), it's like money in the bank if something were to happen to my job or my husband's job or anything else tragic. I think spending much more than that would really freak me out.:weird:

I probably wouldn't ever spend over £2000 ($3000). As much as I'd love a Birkin, I don't think I've ever be able to let myself purchase one without thinking what other kinds of investment that money can go towards.

My limit was $3,000 including tax for my Chanel in 2009 and that's as high as i'd ever go. I have some beautiful pieces that are much less expensive with better quality & have lasted me years. Mortgage always wins.

Much as I love bags I would never spend a fortune on them. I really do not want 'a bag to last a lifetime.' I find myself going for mid-price brands now, instead of Prada, Gucci, Balenciaga, Burberry, etc. I've owned these brands for years and there's no sign of any of them dying yet. So no need to replace them with equally expensive ones. The most recent bags I bought were Treesje Asher, Gerard Darel 24 Heures and a Luella Gisele. They're brilliant too but a lot less expensive.

The most I have spent on a handbag was $2000, only because I try to limit myself to purchasing 2 bags a year. I don't think I want to spend more than... It's not because I can't afford to, but because you have to draw the line somewhere.
