What is the most that you'd spend on a handbag?

Let's say you are shopping, and come across a bag you really like. Let's say it's different than any others in your collection...what's the most you would spend to buy it right then and there? What if was a brand you hadn't heard of before?

For me, I think $500 would be it...maybe $600 if it was really cool.

This is embarrassing, but if I had never heard of the brand, I think the quality would have to be more obvious than for a brand I knew!:shame:

I agree with that amount. For me it is probably about the same. It would be hard for me to spend more because I've found so many wonderful things for that price or less!

For me it was a Juicy Big Fluffy marked down to $280 (thereabouts).

I saw it on the sale table, came back and looked at it again, couldn't believe it was a Juicy, and took it straight to the sales counter.

I would probably go as high on an impulse to $350--but I am poor (not a BBag gal, sigh ...).

I think about every single bag, and hesitate regardless.

My mother taught me to walk away from any major purchase. So, I will ask a sales assistant to hold it for me, and I take a walk to go eat, grab a coffee... whatever.

That way I am never caught up in the moment. If I can't stop thinking about it, I go back and get it. If I am no longer really interested, I call the gal to release it or stop by and chat on my way out.

A really expensive bag would get a call to DH. He trusts me and my judgement, but he's really my best friend when it comes down to it, so his impression goes a long way. He enables, up to a point, but he's uber practical.

A call to any of my girlfriends would only take as long as they need to gush "get it!" :push:

I'll buy a bag in the $200 range without much hesitation as long as I know I can return it if I change my mind. After I get it home I usually agonize over whether to keep it. Even though $200 isn't considered much to most PF members, I still want to be sure I like a bag for this price and will use it.

I used to buy cheap bags (20-50) without thinking about them, but then I realized that I have too many that I don't use, and I now think about my purchases before I make them.

The last time I didn't think was when I went to see the Spice Girls and bought the tote bag that they were selling :smile1:

Wow, that is great advice! I'm going to do that from now on. Thanks Angelfish!
