What is the most that you'd spend on a handbag?

Let's say you are shopping, and come across a bag you really like. Let's say it's different than any others in your collection...what's the most you would spend to buy it right then and there? What if was a brand you hadn't heard of before?

If it is a brand I never heard of before, I doubt it would be in the top price range, because there are not that many and after a few months in the forum, I think I know them all ;)

Consequently, if it is something I have never heard of, it would not be too expensive, but then again, I usually do not buy on an inpulse. Most of the times you can go back and get whatever you want, if you keep on thinking about it.

If it was truly fabulous $500.00 as long as I can return it. I usually just snatch up things and take them home, look at them in mirrors, different lights and then really decide. Too many times I have left good bargins thought about them all night to find they are gone the next day.

I think about every single bag, and hesitate regardless.

My mother taught me to walk away from any major purchase. So, I will ask a sales assistant to hold it for me, and I take a walk to go eat, grab a coffee... whatever.

That way I am never caught up in the moment. If I can't stop thinking about it, I go back and get it. If I am no longer really interested, I call the gal to release it or stop by and chat on my way out.

A really expensive bag would get a call to DH. He trusts me and my judgement, but he's really my best friend when it comes down to it, so his impression goes a long way. He enables, up to a point, but he's uber practical.

A call to any of my girlfriends would only take as long as they need to gush "get it!" :push:
Well said.

Well if it was a Bbag that I had been looking for and I stumbled across it on Fleabay or something, I guess paying retail $1295 for a "Rare" bag would seem like a deal to me KWIM?? Any more than that.......I would have to think about it....for like 60 seconds :graucho:

No matter the price, I think about every single purchase. I'm more concerned about having a well-rounded but not repetitive wardrobe/closet. I thought for an hour about a $20 bag from H&M, and I'd do the same for a more expensive bag. Often, a Chanel would require me to make adjustments with how I spend money before I make that purchase, so it takes me longer to buy a Chanel, but its not because I'm wondering whether to buy it :)

It depends on if the price was retail or not. I hate paying retail for any purchase over several hundred dollars. So, if I came across a $1500 bag for 1/2 price I would spend less time thinking about it than if I found a $400 bag at full retail. I always think that I can sell the sale bag if I regret it but I will take a loss on the one that is still at full retail.

i think about all my purchases, honestly. As a student, I just dont have the funds to not fully think about it beforehand. besides since i always have to save up for most of my purchases thinking about it and knowing that i need it..is the main reason i can't just buy it right away.
