What is the most that you'd spend on a handbag?

It's really hard to say how much I'd spend on a bag. I would probably buy an expensive bag full price if I had saved for it and it wasn't going to go on sale, but I'm not in a position to do that right now. I love the feeling of getting a great deal on a bag. I haven't paid full price for a designer bag yet, and I still love them so much, even if they aren't from this season. I'm still a student, though, and just getting into designer bags.

i actually don't know my limit either, but i don't think i can justify a bag costing more than $2000 to myself, or pretty much everybody i know. i guess Hermes would be a different story, but the prices of bags these days...:wtf:

at this point in my life, (i'm 23) my limit is about $1000. most of the bags i like are *it* bags (mj, chloe, etc.) and i've had no problems finding a good deal either @ neiman marcus or ebay. however, once i'm more est. i know chanel will be calling my name, and then, god, who knows:wlae:

I got this from my grandmother (my mother says), but I always feel that when things are on sale, that must mean something is wrong with them :graucho:. So no sales/used bags for me! ;)
I kind of agree with you. I always question products on sale. They kind of make me nervous. But at the same time, I would never, ever pay full price for a bag. It would sicken me too much. I'd much rather have an expensive bag cheaply than a full-priced bag at regular price (paying the same dollar amount for both).

Saying that, sale blindness might occur once in a while. Then I'll wind up hating the item knowing it was on sale. You just can't win. :p

My first designer bag cost me £250, i said to myself then that i would never spend more than that on a bag. Then i bought one that was on sale at £195 down from £250, very happy with that i was, my third Mulberry bag cost £195 as well, so i'm doing well with not going over £250 pounds..... Then ohmygod i spent £495 on a gorgeous Luella bag which i love to death (that was March last year), i am very happy with this bag and thought i would be content to never buy another bag again (for a few years anyway), then this year out of the blue i bought a chanel bag for a staggering £850. I nearly fell out with my sister over it as she couldn't comprehend spending that kind of money on a tiny bag and she demanded i justify it to her, won't bore you with the details. I think i must have been quite passionate in my defence because she came round to my way of thinking and we practically ran back to Harrods so i could purchase said bag. she then went and bought a Mulberry bag for £195, this is a big deal for her as previously she has never spent more than a tenner on a bag. My bad ways are rubbing off on her. Anyhoo my conclusion is thus, designer bags are addictive and bad for my bank balance, but i love them and can't help it. By the way i never say no to a bargain as i recently purchased a pre loved Marc Jacobs for a fraction of the origanal price, and i felt like the cat that got the cream.
Very sorry if i have rambled on too long, but it is so wonderful to find people to relate to. :yahoo:

I don't have an official limit, but the most expensive bag I've bought so far is a Gucci 85th Anniversary bag that was $1,595 (not including tax & shipping). Strangely that was the bag that started it all for me... I didn't ease into it or grow into more expensive bags. I went ga-ga over this bag and then got sick of my cheap everyday bags... and so now I have a couple LV's and several Coach's and D&B's for everyday.

Wow...everyone's limits make my $150 seem paltry. In the end, it doesn't matter. We all have a limit for what we will pay. Mine is on the smaller side so that I don't spend above my means.

But if you know where to look, you can get rather quality bags for that price point. Of course, there are times I will up my limit to get a larger bag, but those are rare and far in between. I have this wonderful Italian leather carry on which I got on sale for $230. It was an ouch moment for me, but I don't regret my purchase.

I don't have a set limit--for me it would depend on how much I loved the bag. I've never bought a bag on sale before, but that's just because I've never found the ones I've wanted.

It's not paltry at all. It makes a lot more sense to buy something you can afford than to go into credit card debt for something you cannot afford! Good for you for being sensible!

I've never paid full price for any of my bags and my colection includes, Botegga Veneta, Miu Miu, Prada, Belen Echandia, Isabella Fiore, Mulberry, Marc Jacobs, Kooba, Botkier, Carlos Falchi etc. Why would anyone do it when there are always coupon codes or sales at NM or Saks etc? You can get 2 beautiful bags for the price of one!

With purses going over $500, aren't you afraid to leave the house? Aren't you afraid someone bad might see you? I know in some places they will cut your wrist off for a luxury watch.

I carry my Chanel jumbo flap almost daily and I've had no problems. I figure it's a bag and it is meant to be carried. I am always aware of my surroundings and while I know something *could* happen, I just don't dwell on it. Life is too short for me to worry about what may happen.
