What is the most that you'd spend on a handbag?

I'm in the same boat, but I'm a full timer. I still have a part time job though, which allows me to save quite a bit since it pays very well.
I knew I was going to buy a nice designer handbag sometime soon, and go on a holiday with friends so I saved up A LOT, and spent a lot of my free time working. (I was determined).

Right now, I would spend max 2k because that's as much as my budget would allow. 3 months ago I would have said 1.5k. It has a lot to do with the bag too though.

I have a longchamp le pliage, and if one day it costs $1000 I would still think about getting it. That this is nearly indestructible, not to mention very versatile. School bags, nappy bag, casual bag, beach bag, work bag... I've spilt drinks all over it a few times. Barely any marks.

My dream is the classic 2.55 Chanel. I would buy it in a heartbeat if I had the money :( maybe ill buyit for myself when I graduate... :P

I'm a part timer too, I'm able to save a lot but it's still so hard reasoning with myself...really, $1000 for a bag?! I don't know, it's such a scary move to make! Huahauahahha. I feel like my parents would think I'm crazy, but then again my Mom has been known to spend $1000 on a small ring...but I digress. The Chanel 2.55 is a gorgeous bag, I wish you luck and I hope you get it one day!

I would never spend more than UK £800 which is around $1200 I think. I actually normally spend a lot less than that - my comfort zone is around £500-£600 - so £800 would be my maximum for something I really loved. I also always try to buy from outlets or on sale if possible and am happy to buy preloved as long as the bag is in excellent condition, so can end up keeping costs down and still buy handbags from premier designers I love (my epice Chloe Paraty being one example).

I know it is all relative (people who spend £50 on a bag would think I am crazy for spending as much as I do!) but I really could never justify spending over this amount. As others have said I am also financially able to spend much more - up to several thousand if I wanted to - but I just couldn't justify it. If I really wanted to spend an obscene amount of money on something material I would buy a beautiful piece of fine jewellery or put the money in a high interest savings account for any children I hope to have in the future.

Hi Ladies!
So I was wondering .. How much would you pay for a beautiful bag unknown or high end brand? And have you ever spend more than that limit because you just had to own it?

Personally my limit is around 450£ and that's the high end of the scala. My preloved Louis vuitton keepall cost me that much - little to much perhaps, but I wanted it for so long when I bought it and I love it to bits so I guess it doesen't matter!

Im not trying to be offensive or judgemental, Im just very curious :-)

I've been thinking about this question recently... and I think my limit right now is 700 for a bag. That's an awful lot of money, I know, and I don't spend it lightly, but I'm trying to move on to quality over quantity. So I plan to only spend that once, or at the very most twice, per year, and also sell other bags to make room and edit my collection.

700 puts me in a difficult position with Mulberry, since I can't really afford their current prices. I did buy an OS Alexa in the sale for 700, and think that will be my last new Mulberry, the way prices are heading.

For about 700, I have in recent years purchased a lovely large Givenchy Pandora (new in the sale) and a large Proenza PS1 (new, also in a sale). I also consider good condition 2nd-hand bags from reputable resellers.

Mine would be £700-£800 but It would have to be a everyday bag that I couldn't be without and would regret not buying it. I've just brought my first delrey in the sale for £600 from m.com but I'm planning on having it to use for work everyday. I was fed up of buying cheaper bags and having to replace them within a year. I think with the price increase I will only buy from the outlets or a sale. I have brought mulberry bags to be used for years to come not just for one season so it doesn't matter to me if I have to wait for a sale or for it to got to an outlet. Plus it annoys me when I see something I've spent a lot of money on go in the sale as I think about the money I've wasted buying it abut early.

Now? Not more than 700 euros! And it's an enormous sum already......
The days when I used to spend more are over.
I've realized that some bags are terribly expensive and are not really worth the price or that I don't wear them as much as I thought I would.

Oh dear, how things change in two years! :shame: I still maintain what I said in my original post about my comfort zone being around £500-£600 but have exceeded this now for several bags in my current collection. The maximum I have spent is £1600 for my Cerf tote which was bought as new, I still can't believe I spent that much although a big chunk of the money was raised by selling another bag and some accessories which makes me feel a little better about it.

I've learnt to never say never now but I don't think I could spend more than £1600 on a handbag in the future and I can appreciate that even that is an obscene amount of money to spend on a piece of leather!

My biggest purchase is my mini chanel flap 1590 euro and when I accepted to pay 3100euro for another chanel, of course they raised 500 euro more... Darn it. I do love chanel but 3500 Euro is too much...
