What is a bag you obsessed over, but ultimately did not buy (and why)?

I was almost positive that I would buy a Bow bag by Miu miu years ago, but after many trips to the Miu miu boutique, deciding on the colours, asking my mother for opinion and searching through numerous pictures of the bag, I finally decided that the shape (and the bag's opening) in not for me and I wouldn't use it much :) I prefer totes and that boxy shape with a short handle was really not me...I still think the bag looks cute with those big bows, but I'm glad I picked another classic Miu miu matelassee bag instead, as the Bow bag is now kind of out of style

Gucci Marmont nude shoulder bag - almost bought it but I thought it was too much of a trendy bag and the quality wasn’t that great when I tried it on in store (ultimately bought a Chloe Drew which fits my style more and I’m in love with!)

Alma BB in DE - this was what I thought my first luxury handbag would be but I still haven’t bought it because I have a Kate Spade Mini Candace which is about the same size and I love that too much to replace just now. I ended up getting a Neverfull in DE which I’m glad I did because now I have a large tote instead of two smaller bags that would have served the same purpose.

What a great thread! Gucci marmont and saint laurent you Lou Lou in velvet. I still like the marmont but I think the popularity of this style is starting to fade. The Lou Lou was just too deep for my frame. And of course the velvet was the main issue. Doesn’t generally wear well and so not carefree. Plus can’t really wear it in the spring and summer.

For me I wanted to purchase the following:
  • Celine belt bag but after reading a lot I heard it had a tendency to tilt forward and lose its shape. That pretty much killed my enthusiasm.
  • Givenchy Antigona small. I really wanted this until I contemplated on the thick zip closure and what seems to be a small opening. Ultimately I felt that over time it would annoy me.
  • Fendi Kan I regular. I was all set to purchase this when I saw a picture that a member posted of her flap that was snapped off. I was immediately turned off the bag.
  • Fendi Peekaboo regular. Went to the store and promptly fell out of love with it. To me it just seemed too cumbersome to get in and out of it. Still love the look but not the practicality of the bag.
  • Chanel Jumbo Flap. Really wanted one but I realized after while that the puffiness of the quilt bothered me and would probably continue to bother me over time. If I could get it in the Chevron design then maybe I would consider it again.
  • Chanel new medium boy. I nearly pulled the trigger on this but I started to think if for the price point and size of the bag if I would truly use it.

The small size Antigona, still like it even now and just cannot put my finger on what stops me buying it. I think it’s the logo, I would prefer a subtle embossing.

The regular peekaboo, again I wanted one for so long but when I was ready to take the plunge I bought a mini instead. The regular looked like a work bag and was so heavy. I initially didn’t like my mini as I thought it was too small but it seriously grew on me.

The tahitienne neverfull - I don’t even like shoulder bags but loved this one. Glad I didn’t buy it because I don’t like patina at all.

I was very close to buying the following:

1. Givenchy Antigona - didn't get it in the end as I didn't like the zip and felt it would be a pain (literally) to get my things in and out. I also didn't like the way the handles stick up and poke my arms when the bag is carried using a shoulder strap.
2. Gucci Marmont - couldn't get over how yellow the hardware looks (generally prefer silver hardware, and can accept gold hardware if it's not too yellow)
3. Mansur Gavriel bucket bag - I adjusted my travel itinerary to pop by their store and was all ready to buy a bucket bag until I picked one up and knew it wasn't meant to be. The leather just felt thin, stiff and cheap. It just didn't feel luxurious.

The Balenciaga City bag in the regular size. I just sold the 3rd one as this bag doesn’t work for me although I love it!
However, the size small (not the mini) is perfect and I will keep this one for a long time in my collection! Even thinking to add another one.. ;)
The LV canvas bags. Love love the look on others but can’t get use it on me. Sold the Speedy I had purchased from a friend but keep thinking of this bag although I know it does not work for me

Back in my late teens I was enamored with the Alexander Wang Rocco. I thought for sure it would be my first luxury bag someday, but when I got the opportunity to try it on, it felt heavy to me.

Still think it's a gorgeous bag but I've also come to learn I'm not a huge fan of leather bags and I think big studs like that are too trendy looking. I regret my Balenciaga purchase for these reasons, even though I still like the bag and brand. Oh well.

I also can't get myself to spend money on luxury shoes, even though Valentino rockstuds make me swoon every time I see them (and are 20% cheaper here in Honolulu!) the same way CL used to. I just can't justify spending that much on shoes, when I can spend it on bags (my real weakness).

A bag I thought for sure I was going to buy recently is the LV Iena. I thought it would make a great daily bag... but my problem is I have too many different bags and if I bought a good everyday bag, then the others would never see the light of day. I decided to pass it up and rotate the other items in my collection. So far, so good.

The Chanel Boy and WOC are other ones. Chanel just doesn't feel like me. I can't explain it.

Chanel Boy...love the look and almost purchased one a couple of years ago. It seemed like such a perfect red but it was on hold for someone else. Ended up getting something else and now I’ve lost interest. Maybe the perfect color combo will come up and change my mind. For now I’m happy with the Chanels that I have.

Python Dionysus wallet on chain. Got a great price but the order fell through and can’t bring myself to pay full price on it. I am obsessively checking every vendor that has it though and may reconsider if I can’t find another bag as versatile for day to night.

I can't remember how many Cities I've bought and resold because the bag just doesn't work for me. Firsts as well. So I bought a Black Out City small because I loved the heck out of it and guess what? I'm selling AGAIN. I have to finally admit that any iteration of the City just doesn't work for me, even my DH said it doesn't look like my (hobo) style!

A few weeks ago I was very close to purchasing the Gucci marmont circle bag in black. I was at the shop trying it on and was ready to buy. I convinced myself to think about it overnight and life got in the way and I couldn't make it back to the store. I had seen the bag in the HK airport during the Christmas holidays and couldn't stop thinking about it!!
