What is a bag you obsessed over, but ultimately did not buy (and why)?

Love this thread because it acknowledges that there are so many wonderful bags that we appreciate but, just aren’t right for us individually. I still think these bags are beautiful. I just didn’t buy because...

• LV Sofia Coppola - I don’t like hand carry and the style really isn’t me. Plus I worry the structure wouldn’t hold and if carried half filled it would collapse a bit.

• LV Cappucines - I’ve read it’s heavy and as I looked at it, it seems a bit more old fashioned than I’d like.

• LV City Steamer - It’s heavy and they never offered the leather / hardware combo I wanted.

• LV Kimono - I just think this is such a striking bag. But, I don’t like mono canvas and I rarely carry totes.

• LV Petit Metis - Totally got caught up in the hype. Didn’t buy because I don’t like mono canvas or small / medium bags with divided sections.

• Givenchy Antigona - It’s too bulky and heavy for me. Plus, I worry that even if I got a mini now, I’m late on the trend and it would read dated in a couple years. (The Kardashian effect. Ugh!)

Polene Numero Un - Such a unique bag! But, I read the leather is fairly stiff - not thick and chewy as I’d want for this bag.

MCM Milla - This looks like a good work bag. But, I couldn’t get over the fabric two toned striped strap.

Gucci velvet anything - Lordie, I swoon when I see these bags. The color saturation is sublime. But, the velvet is just too likely to get stained / look word & matted over time. So I adore them from afar.

And, the one bag I never even liked but obsessed over whether I should buy because I can be kooky:

Hermes Birkin - I almost got caught up in tPF hype and seriously considered getting one because I thought I “needed” at least one in my collection. Uh...nope. I don’t even like the look of the bag.
I agree 1000000% about everything!!!
I like the Kelly though.

  • Givenchy Antigona small. I really wanted this until I contemplated on the thick zip closure and what seems to be a small opening. Ultimately I felt that over time it would annoy me.

Givenchy Antigona - I have been dithering about this bag for so long! The stiffness of the zipper is the issue for me.

I agree about the Antigona having the small opening, bulky and too structure and the zipper being so stiff! Unfortunately I bought it and it's annoying the hell out of me! And when I use it, it's an open bag, I just couldn't be bothered zipping it up.

The Hermes Evelyne TPM. I wanted one so bad, I was obsessed. Then when I finally had the chance to get one and look it over I was like... oh, you are too small for anything. The quality is tdf, though, so still mildly obsessed and wish I had funds to waste.

A YSL chevron wallet on chain. I have wanted one for many months now and when I finally saw it it felt like a brick. So hard and stiff. I did not understand the fuss and knew immediately it was a no for me. Obsession was over.

Every day for weeks I scoured the Hermès website for a Evelyne 29 . But when I finally put one in my cart, all of a sudden I didn’t think it was right for me, it’s open top, too casual, not pretty enough, etc.!
Maybe I should also add the shape turned me off, I visited a sick friend in the hospital and the shape looked identical to the urine bag she was hooked up to......

1. Mulberry Lily
Although I still love the look of it the chain was very uncomfortable and too short to wear the bag as a crossbody.

2. Loewe Puzzle Bag
It looks so cool - unfortunately only on others.
On me it is bulky and additionally it is nearly impossible to find anything inside because of the narrow opening. A black hole bag.

3. Any bag from the Chloé Faye series
I am so torn because I love the 70s chic of it but I wasn‘t able to pull the trigger because I the ring-chain-combination which reminds me of some very weird piercing looks I have seen in the 90s where people had a chain connecting their ear and nose ring. (Anybody understands me? Maybe it is better for you if you don‘t... [emoji1])

Perhaps the glossy goat leather Mulberry Lily series? Have one of those and it is the most comfortable bag ever.
I feel you on the Puzzle bag, it's definitely a work of art but yikes, is that opening small or what? :-)
And yes, yes, yes! The chain and nose ring connection - ALL my girlfriends in college and high school had it :-) SO FUNNY that you immediately connected that to the Faye, I did too!!!!!

I wanted to add these two as well:

Mulberry Lily in the rose/powder pink shade: I still think this bag is so pretty but I have not been able to try it out in person.

Saint Laurent Sac de Jour small: I go back and forth on this one. I think I am okay with the absence of a zipper on top of the bag since it has a zippered compartment in the middle. I have tried it on, it is comfortable, looks good, easy to get in and out of, etc, but I just don't feel excited about it.

Hermes Kelly - I’m not sure if this counts but I bought multiple sizes and styles and sold them all. The bag is too cumbersome and too formal for my lifestyle

Chanel Boy Bag - I’ve swooned over this bag and every time I’ve had the opportunity to purchase, I've hesitated. I don't like the fact that the interior is canvas and I wonder if it's too "trendy". It also doesn't hold as much as I thought.

Ive always wanted to buy that LV eva bag. Ive been checking it every time im in toronto. But when I was already able to buy it I realized that it looks too simple for the price and a lot of things can happen that can damage the zipper part in the end I chose the favorite pm and love it

I like the Kelly too. I don’t love it but, I really like it! At that price point, I’d have to loooove it. LOL!

I have a Boy bag and the fabric interior bugs me too.
