What is a bag you obsessed over, but ultimately did not buy (and why)?

1. Givenchy Antigona - Have obsessed over the shiny smooth black one in Small for years, but could not get over the weight and the zipper, which looks like it would be annoying.

2. Gucci Marmont Camera/Flap - Waited too long to get it and suddenly it seems that everyone and their mothers were wearing one, so I'm glad that I haven't gotten it after all.

3. Celine Nano Luggage - Could not find one in the colour combination that I liked and suddenly it was looking dated.

4. Chanel Classic Flap - This was a classic and I finally saw one in navy at Harrods when we were on a trip to London, husband was all set to get it for me but when I held the bag in my hands I just felt that no way would it be worth 4,800 Euros and I didn't even try it on. Somehow the feel of the leather was just underwhelming to me and I expected more?! In hindsight I should have at least tried it, but oh well, I still wouldn't have gotten it anyway!

Love this thread because it acknowledges that there are so many wonderful bags that we appreciate but, just aren’t right for us individually. I still think these bags are beautiful. I just didn’t buy because...

• LV Sofia Coppola - I don’t like hand carry and the style really isn’t me. Plus I worry the structure wouldn’t hold and if carried half filled it would collapse a bit.

• LV Cappucines - I’ve read it’s heavy and as I looked at it, it seems a bit more old fashioned than I’d like.

• LV City Steamer - It’s heavy and they never offered the leather / hardware combo I wanted.

• LV Kimono - I just think this is such a striking bag. But, I don’t like mono canvas and I rarely carry totes.

• LV Petit Metis - Totally got caught up in the hype. Didn’t buy because I don’t like mono canvas or small / medium bags with divided sections.

• Givenchy Antigona - It’s too bulky and heavy for me. Plus, I worry that even if I got a mini now, I’m late on the trend and it would read dated in a couple years. (The Kardashian effect. Ugh!)

Polene Numero Un - Such a unique bag! But, I read the leather is fairly stiff - not thick and chewy as I’d want for this bag.

MCM Milla - This looks like a good work bag. But, I couldn’t get over the fabric two toned striped strap.

Gucci velvet anything - Lordie, I swoon when I see these bags. The color saturation is sublime. But, the velvet is just too likely to get stained / look word & matted over time. So I adore them from afar.

And, the one bag I never even liked but obsessed over whether I should buy because I can be kooky:

Hermes Birkin - I almost got caught up in tPF hype and seriously considered getting one because I thought I “needed” at least one in my collection. Uh...nope. I don’t even like the look of the bag.

The Pochette Metis.
I do not know for the life of me why I got caught in this hype. It is not my kind of bag at all. It is true I am kind of attracted to satchel forms (but they don't work for me) and I like the vintage vibe. Heavily edited Instagram pictures made it look so nice against a white and cream background. So I somehow convinced myself it would be an ideal sort of everyday small bag to bump around in the Spring. Fortunately, it was impossible to get so I wrote myself down in the waiting list. From that moment on I started noticing certain things. How I was drawn to pics where it was held as a clutch but it was really very much a crossbody (not my favorite type of bag). How I hate compartments in small bags. How the proportions were "off". Then I started spotting more and more of them in the wild. To this day, I have never seen a PM looking good on anyone in real life. My own personal taste I realize, but it is usually carried crossbody and it is so unwaildy and bulky and doesn't do anything for anyone clothes or shape... So by the time LV gave me a call I was. what!? why would I want to buy that? :P
Agreed! The “lock” really thrown me off. Lol
