Help

Thanks J for updating the information, it's super helpful! :smile1:

Just thought I'd point out, that since Pepper was the one that started this thread (and used her scale), in theory, her scale should be used for future bag weighing. Otherwise, you end up w/ inaccurate results. Or use a scale that is checked by the Dept of Weights and Measures.

The results may be minute, but since you're weighing down to the ounces here...if you are looking for accuracy...

^^Thanks, my DH just pointed this out yesterday. Unfortunately it is not practical/possible, so this is what we've got, but I did use a digital scale, weighed each bag at least twice, and I would prefer to keep the list as "clean" as possible (no weights with clochette/lock, and keep weights primarily in grams +/- conversion to lbs and ounces).

*light bump*

Would vote for this great thread (thank you Pepper!) to be made sticky & be included in the Reference Thread.. Very resourceful in determining which leather to opt for 35 Birkin..

Hi, H ladies! How about the Fjord leather? I asked an Hermes bag connoisseur which textured leather is the best in terms of keeping the bag's shape/structure over time and she told me it's Fjord leather but it's kind of heavy. Where exactly does it fall in this scale of Birkin 35 leather weights?

Thanks pepper for the thread, I am glad that this thread is bumped.

A personal observation, I just bought my 35 Togo birkin recently, the leather is thinner/softer than my 2009 35 Togo birkin, I don't have the 2009 birkin with me now, and also don't own a digital scale, so I can't give the exact weight, I hope other pfers will share their views on this, any body observe the same thing too ?

Thanks.

just to clarify IceEarl - is the new black birkin you just got a 2009 or is 2010 - if it is 2010 would it an N stamp - just curious.

I bought my Black birkin on 4 Jan 2010, it has an M stamp, so I guess theoretically speaking, it belongs to the 2009 batch, and the other birkin(BdP) was bought in mid 2009 which also has an M stamp, so I guess I should re-phrase and say the recent Togo is thinner and feels lighter than the previous ones :)

.... this is my personal observation, would like to hear from other pfers if anyone feels the same:)
