Hello! Considering a vintage epi leather piece, but can't decide on classic black or castilian red. What is everyone's experience with how colored epi leather will age? Will the c

I think unlike Vernis, if the Epi item has been looked after fairly well or just mainly stored, it'll be close to perfect. Vintage vernis seem to acquire a new colour of colour transfer even when you are sure you kept it away from things. Both colours are gorgeous so comes down to what the item is. If it's a larger bag, either colour. For smaller things, red for sure.

Unless it was abused, Epi is designed to last, so it depends on the age of the bag and how it was used, just like any other bag. Black is easier and more foolproof to color match any touch ups, but other than that, choose the bag and color combo that speaks to your heart!

I'm also thinking about joining the club by purchasing a vintage epi speedy in green! Any tips on what areas of the bag to look for? I noticed that some have creases in the epi -- should those come out? Is glazing a big deal or can that be retouched with a cobbler if one is picky? Thanks so much :)

I think Epi is pretty forgiving where scuffs and minor damage are concerned. You can get those areas tended to by a bag spa or leather crafter. I can't say if creases will eventually come out but if the leather is still supple, you could stuff it with clothes etc to fill her up and see if the creases relax over time. I saw a great looking green speedy on our local ebay and it was tempting... I guess you just have to make sure the inside is still nice and intact and no major damage. Just ask for as many photos as possible.
