Hi all! Happy Sunday! I have finally narrowed my latest vintage craze down to a Noe or a shopping sac. I have a question about the shopping sac. It looks like in 91 and 92 they had mono piping on the bottom instead of vachetta. Also, the interior is different than a speedy canvas in that it looks shiny? Anyone have this bag that can tell me the pros and cons of the shiny vs canvas interior?

Also, the Noe - those of you who have them what are the pros and cons compared to the shopping sac?

thanks in advance!! ❤️

Me personally I was never a fan of drawstring bags because I don't like to fuss with the drawstring to open and close my bag and they don't have enough pockets for me, inside or outside. I don't want to buy extra pouches to conceal all my stuffs inside (another opening step towards what I want to grab)

Just bought a vivacite gm... with 2 front pockets big enough for cell and 6keys pocket

Hi All! I am considering a vintage Noe... Here is a link. I LOVE the cost, love that it's OLD but I'm concerned about them saying the bag is "out of shape". Wanna take a look? I'm wondering if I gently stuff it for a bit, it may go back to the right shape? I'm stuck and y'all are my first place to ask... Thanks in advance! ;-)

Japanese resellers are extremely picky on the whole. I have found this particular comment is not a big deal, especially on bags that are not extremely structured.

Thank you so much! I had a feeling you might respond! Love the photo of your kitty!
Thanks! She’s my sweet old girl!

One thing you can do to help shape it is use a heat wrap (like you would use for a sore neck) or fill a sock with rice and warm it in the microwave for 2 min or so with just a little water in cup. Put it in the bag sitting on top of a towel you placed on the bottom of the bag and keep it in there until the bag is a little warm, then remove it and stuff it, letting it cool while stuffed. That should help if stuffing alone does not.

How smart is that!! Thank you! Great idea!

Good morning! Have any of you experienced vintage bags with the serial number rubbed off? I’m looking at a petite Noe from a Japanese seller that I have purchased from and they have excellent feedback (next-innovation)...most of their bags have serial numbers but a few dont and they are listed as “old model”.

It happens. If you feel confident in the seller and they have a return policy. I have purchased bags from Japanese resellers without visible date codes and they were fine. But use PayPal for an extra layer of protection and you can always check with the LV authentication thread on here first to see if they can help you. I can tell you for a fact, date codes are far from the only way to ID a fake and fake ones have them too, so they are no indication alone of authenticity.

Hello @BowieFan1971 !
How do you make sure that you are looking only at Japanese sellers on ebay? Any tips and tricks? Recommendations?
Thanks!

By the way, here is my latest acquisition: vivacite gm 20210602_155642.jpg

You can filter for worldwide sellers. Also, if you scroll down in the listing it will tell you the location of the seller or you could click on the sellers name for more info. I have ordered many bags from Japanese sellers and not had a single issue with authenticity.

Any fake items I have bought have all come from US sellers. A lot of people here don’t even bother to do the most basic research about items before they list them, let alone get them authenticated. And they will be rude or sell them anyway even after you tell them. I have reported quite a few items on Mercari and they never get pulled.

Japanese resellers have to be licensed and if they sell fakes, they can lose their license. Everyone can make a mistake, but they have a lot more to lose than money or a listing.

Ok friends - I’ve got another question. Have you noticed the Noe/petit Noe grommets don’t have Louis Vuitton stamped on the older bags? It seems to be a trend I’m finding but I figured I’d ask.

Call me crazy but I almost enjoy researching the vintage bags more than purchasing them! The history is so fascinating to me...
