So happy to find my third Speedy 40, which is also my second Vintage Speedy 40! This one I’m calling Lil Sister since she is 21 years old, and her Big Sister is 28 years old!! Lil Sister is in great condition, with a beautiful honey patina. After a Conditioner bath and polishing the tarnished hardware, she’s lovely!

Sorry if this has been asked before - I did search the thread and couldn't immediately find an answer.

Those who have dealt with tarnished/worn hardware - what did you do? Is there a polish that is good, and/or would LV re-plate? I have a couple of vintage Epi bags that could do with sparklier hardware.

Simichrome paste is my "go to" for heavily tarnished hardware. Apply to hardware with a cotton swab or your finger. Buff away with a soft cloth. Be careful on your zipper areas, as it can leave a residue on the fabric around the teeth. On mine, for the zipper teeth, I wipe with a jewelry polishing cloth which is enough to brighten it to my liking.

Congrats on your beautiful Vintage Speedy 25!!! Several videos on YouTube on how to clean dirty handles if you’re interested. My Vintage 1990 Speedy 40 had dark, dirty handles, tarnished hardware and dull canvas when I purchased it, and I cleaned and conditioned them to reveal a beautiful honey color patina, polished the hardware, and applied conditioner to the canvas . Amazing results! Before and after pic below.
Omg, that's the same bag?!?! Holy cow, great job! Vintage LV are so beautiful!

I always use Blue Metal Polish on tarnished hardware, which I buy from Amazon. See the tube on my post #946 in this thread. I put a tiny bit on a Q-tip, wait about five minutes then wipe off with a soft cloth or towel, and buff it good. (Before and after pics)
