Oh no! You open a case. That looks way worst then the photos. I'm always leery of blurry photos. I've been burned way to much with undisclosed damage. Ebay will be in your favor.
The seller is telling me that since she said the bag needs shoe polish I should have known it was faded. She said her photos clearly show that the bag is faded. Her blurry photos don't show anything clearly! I told her that I felt a flaw as significant as fading should have been clearly disclosed, not hidden in blurry photos. Shame on me for bidding on an auction with blurry photos. I'm curious to see how eBay will handle this. To add insult to injury I found a thrift store price tag in the bag for $12.99. She paid $12.99 for this bag, which is $107.51 less than what I paid and she is refusing to work with me at all on this bag. Amazing.

Curious what eBay does.

I agree. I think they are pretty fair when it comes to something not being accurately shown in pics. With your pics, you can see that wasn't shown in the listing. Esp the bottom of the bag one. If any of the pics differ, I think that makes your case. Not all buyers are going to ask--tell me about every mark on the bottom, or tell me about marks I can't see in your blurry photos, lol.

I would also definitely argue that the large stain on the bottom of the bag should have been disclosed. That isn’t just a “mark” one would expect from a vintage bag.

A similar thing happened to me once with a 9953 - the fading was not as significant but there was a spot on the side of the bag the seller did not disclose, even though I had asked for additional photos. Seller also refused to work with me at first so I opened a case with eBay - and eBay sided with me.

What’s a bit concerning to me is that the seller had a lot of sales and positive reviews.. I’m sure I had looked at bags from this seller in the past as well. Now I know to stay away. I’m sorry this happened, Morgan.

Eta: Lake Effect is right. When I was dealing with my case both whateve and BeenBurned and others were super helpful, so it certainly won’t hurt to also post on the eBay forum as she recommended.

Exactly! Thank you.

Does it bother anyone else seeing vintage Coach bags listed on Poshmark with a really nice listing picture, followed by several photos of an obviously completely different bag? There's a like-new B.T. willis I almost bought on ebay and I found a random Poshmark seller using a photo from that listing, followed by 4 additional photos of their bag in super rough condition and different color. I keep finding stuff like that. Does that site have any redeeming qualities or is it pretty much a cesspool for buyers and sellers? I was thinking of listing stuff but it seems kind of shady so wondering based on others' experiences if Ebay is better for buyers/sellers?

I cant do poshmark because they dont send to NZ...at the moment Im waiting for approval of a listing on a NZ consignment site. I look at a lot a bags on there and I have a pet hate for those who put up stock photos of their bag and the next are of a really worn item. Ive spent the time to show the bag well and also included a before photo.
I think if you show clear photos, no blurry ones and are very honest about condition. I think if you treat it like this is what I want to see from a seller re photos and description so I will do it myself.
But as this one is the first Im selling ever online I think Im not the great a person to answer.
Sorry..very early wakeup this morning and not really thinking strait so hopefully everyone can understand what I actually mean.

Poshmark has a really BAD reputation when counterfeit items are involved. They almost NEVER act on rteports of fake items, or they let one of their "authenticators" who may be anyone from a professional authentication service to a PM seller with absolutely NO authenticating experience. And their professional services such as Entrupy aren't any better, we Coach authenticators here estimate that they're correct maybe 60 percent of the time. That's a bloody poor record for a paid service!

These forums are full of posts about members' problems with Poshmark, not just the Coach forums either. One of our Coach authenticators won't even authenticate their listings because she refuses to be even a distant party to their total disregard not just for US and international laws regarding the selling of counterfeit items, but also because when some of our members have bought fakes, Poshmark often refused their requests for refunds even when solid proof was included. PM's "authenticators" have also been known to identify fake bags as genuine - Entrupy is especailly famous for this.

In short, you won't find many Poshmark fans among tPF's authenticators, regardless of brand. JMO.

There's also a 262-page thread in tPFs Ebay Forum just on the subject of Poshmark and its users' opinions:

Based on things I have read on the AT thread, I don’t browse on PM. Hard enough dealing with inaccuracies and bad photos on EBay.

I have definitely had much better experiences with ebay throughout the years versus poshmark. I typically get the bag I expect in the condition listed, and have had some great sellers on ebay. Poshmark I haven't had a lot of success so I tend to avoid it now.

Thanks Hyacinth, this is valuable information. I can understand not wanting to be party to helping a site like this profit off of shady practices. It's too bad though. I like that the format (apart from the social part of it) is more conducive to shopping/browsing than Ebay but the lack of integrity sullies it for me.
