Curious about something. We were talking about your white Dinky.
I have a white Canteen. It has little, hairline cracks in the finish along the strap edges.
May I ask if your Dinky has the same thing?
Wondering if this is something that just happens to white bags over time even if they're in excellent condition, or not.
My NYC Dinky is a recent purchase and the only white bag I own. It is great condition, but does have tiny hairline cracks across the fold over the top, even with conditioning. I read a post a ways back, before I got the bag, where some noted it was if the dye on leather on their white bag was almost like a coating. I would agree with that. I can post a pic later.
I’ll tag @valv54 to see if she found that with her white Pony and @houseof999 with her white Shoulder Purse.

Most definitely, I just got a little white flap bag with a metal tag in unused condition and when I was putting a little conditioner on it I noticed the piping felt thin and coated and where the stitching was, there were tiny cracks. I think that at least the piping and not necessarily the body on early bags was heavily covered and easily damaged. White bags look so chic but are such a pain in the arse.

Does anyone have any ideas for a large flap messenger? I'm looking for something and a lil bit slouchy, so of course I'm thinking vintage Coach!

I like the city, but also wondering if there's anything bigger. I've seen like a large rambler (I think?) but holy guacamole those are priced super high!

Thanks a bunch for your help :)

Recently acquired this cute little Musette. Unfortunate that the seller did not disclose the stains/depressions on the back of the bag. Even sadder that I accepted the order by forgetting to rate the seller within three days. Oh well - I guess I’ll just have to keep it for myself! ;)

Size comparison between the Musette and Original Rambler
Love this bag! Looks great on you!

How about a stewardess?

Vintage collectors- does anyone have a city bag and a convertible clutch? I'm looking at these two styles and trying to decide which I like more. They seem to be similar in size, just that the flap on the convertible goes to the bottom of the bag and the strap is removable.

The City Bag has a few functional advantages.

The City Bag has an outside back pocket; the Convertible Clutch doesn't.

The City Bag is 3-1/2" deep; the Convertible Clutch is 2-1/2"

The City Bag has an adjustable crossbody strap. The Convertible Clutch strap is shorter and is not adjustable, so it won't work as a crossbody.

Even so, a well-turned-out Convertible Clutch gets my vote for best looking. I love those bottom corner seams and the full flap.

Hmmm, the one I was looking at (Convertible Clutch) might not have the original strap. I just looked at other listings and the strap looks significantly shorter. Not that I am complaining, I'd prefer a longer strap, but the strap drop on the one I have bookmarked is 21", but ones listed elsewhere are claiming the strap is 36" long in total.

I agree with you on looks, I prefer the look of the clutch over the city. Thank you for the information!

ETA: I found another one also with the same strap drop, I wonder if it is in fact the same, but the body form the person is using is a smaller one and it's throwing me off in regards to size and length.
