My first vintage Coach bags. I kept remembering the orange Bonnie Cashin one after someone posted one a while back, and the purple station bag is so pretty. They are both excellent condition. I just vacuumed and cleaned the lining of both bags a little, but they were both pretty clean for older bags.

Did you just get them? Those are wonderful choices for your first vintage bags! When I first bought my first, I wasn't very discriminating!

Thanks! Yes, they both just came today! And they were wonderfully packaged and well taken care of. I had to be a bit discriminating because I am very cautious about pre-owned items. lol! I am not quite at the rehab stage of things yet. :-) But maybe this will change my mind over time....

I originally got into vintage because I wanted to rehab but my first purchases were too pristine so I didn't rehab them. It took awhile before I did a rehab. I'm still not as daring as some on here. One thing that is nice about rehabs is that you know they are completely clean.

That is nice to know they are clean. I did go over the inside and outside with a bit of vinegar water after I had vacuumed it out. Gives me the feeling that I cleaned it some. The Bonnie Cashin bag was super clean inside. The purple bag was too but it is harder to tell with the suede.

They both look great! I've never washed a lined Bonnie Cashin. I wouldn't want to take a chance.

These are so cute! I have that little tote in both British Tan and Black. It is such a cute little tote. I love the color of yours.

Carrier bag for $70 shipped! Supposedly already authenticated. Does this bag look like a purse? My dad wants me to find him a nice black and brass briefcase/laptop bag that doesn't look like a purse. I want to find him something special.

It's authentic but I wouldn't trust the seller's authenticators. They have made mistakes. Always get an ebay item authenticated even if it says it has already been authenticated. I think it looks like a briefcase but one with squarer corners would probably look more masculine. These all leather Coach briefcases are extremely heavy. The good thing is that you can return, but it will probably cost $15 or more to send it back, depending on where you live. It seems to be in great condition.

I don't think the Carrier looks like a purse. I think Coach did a re-release a few years ago of a briefcase very similar to a Carrier that was in the men's line.

Hi everyone!

If possible, I'd like to ask about your experiences with the Court bag.

I got my first vintage Coach recently, which is a Court (made in the United States in 1998).

I'm considering getting a second one, which is why I'm asking.

It's a great style of bag for me, in terms of what I wear to my office. I'm a little concerned about durability, and was hoping someone has experience to share. I'm trying to avoid a bad investment. (I live in Toronto, Canada, which makes each purchase relatively expensive, with currency conversion, shipping, tax, and any import fees. Locally, vintage Coach seems hard to find, so I'm purchasing items on eBay from the US.)

On the Court that I have, I'm a bit concerned that the leather around the base of the top handle may stretch, or split in one spot. Also, one of the leather tabs holding the strap is ok, while the other is stretched out and the leather has thinned. I know vintage Coach bags are durable. I'm just wondering if anyone has an opinion on this style? (Or a similar style.) Is this typical, or are these bags also quite durable?

I think about this compared to a Willis; I'm aware that the Willis used a dowel so it could bare weight. (The Willis is a bit bigger than what I'd like for work.) In case it's relevant, I don't overstuff my bags (fairly large smartphone, wallet, compact, a couple of other small miscellaneous items, and sometimes a small battery pack). I would like to get quite a bit of wear from bags, and wear them fairly frequently. I rotate between under 10 bags right now for work. One of the reasons I'm getting into vintage Coach is because I'm tired of cost-cutting production methods and easily-scratched hardware on bags from contemporary mid-range designers.

By the way, does anyone know if the Willis fits a water bottle, with the bottle standing upright? (If so, I might consider that style.)

=D

Personally I prefer the look of Court to Willis. In my experience, I've owned hundreds of vintage Coach bags, authenticated thousands. I hardly ever see a broken strap tab or handle, except on fakes. I had a station bag once with broken stitching on the handle. I can't remember how bad it was but it wasn't too difficult to repair. I'm assuming that the damage you describe on your court happened before you owned it. The items you carry wouldn't exert too much weight and I wouldn't expect them to cause any problems. I can't think of another brand that is more durable than vintage Coach. Once I bought a vintage Gucci that was made in 90s. The strap attachment on one side had completely ripped.
