What is it similar to, in terms of size? I have a large side pack (9979) - would you say it’s similar to that? Perhaps just a tad smaller?

I’m trying to convince myself I don’t need to look for one of these... especially after seeing the picture whateve shared! I really have way too many vintage crossbody bags thanks to this forum
I used to have one, a long time ago. I think it is comparable to a station bag. Probably a little smaller than the large side pack.

Thank you for that comparison! While I don’t have a station bag I think I can picture it.

There have been a few times when I came very close to getting a station bag, but somehow I never managed to pull the trigger. Same with the court bag! Are they consider “must haves” in a vintage collection? (not that I’m trying to start one...)

I don't consider them to be must haves. I think what works for you may not be what works for everyone else. For me, the station bag is too narrow to hold much. Of the 3 - station bag, Willis and court - I find the court to be the most usable. I'm not that enamored of the square structured business shapes. I prefer more roundness in my bags. I've had all three and sold them all. I find the Plaza, which is like a rounded court, cuter and more interesting, as well as a little more usable due to its size. However, all these leather satchels were uncomfortable on my shoulder, with the heaviness of the bag and the skinniness of the straps. Now I focus on bags with wide shoulder straps like the Ranch, classic pouch, and Rambler's Legacy.

Thanks for the insights, whateve! I agree that it only makes sense to buy bags that work for you. The Willis does look to me like it’d be very heavy so I’ve never considered it.

Out of the bags I have the stewardess and the little trail bag get the most use (so far) - I think they have the best size, shape and the most comfortable straps!

As much as I love the large side pack it is very heavy! Does that sound about right? The leather is actually much thicker than all the other bags I have.

I just googled up the plaza bag. It’s so pretty!!! Wow!!!

Yes! There are some small bags that are heavy for the size! I just wanted to chime in, I did have my hands on a Station Bag at a flea market. It felt heavy for the size. I attributed it to the gusseted pocket.
When I began to research vintage Coach a few years ago, I had no idea there were so many styles. And I wanted one of everything , lol. Now that I have had the opportunity to buy a few dozen, rehab about half of them and use them, I too am finding the styles that I like to use daily.
A wise woman said on a another thread, I don’t have to own a bag to enjoy it.

I don't find a Station bag to be heavy maybe because you can't fit much in it. But any bag I can wear crossbody the weight bothers me less. I do find the Stewardess to be heavy because it's big and the strap is only long enough to make it a shoulder bag. I love Willis because I can fit lots of stuff in it and wear it crossbody

Completely against the wisdom of Lake Effect, I have been coveting Plaza bags for a while. I have a small black one, mocha (I think) which I ruined and had to cover in Coach stickers, and most recently acquired one in tan (might be BT or tabac, not sure) and green (beautiful!).I haven't found them that easy to find overall.

Lol that’s exactly how I feel! :) One of everything - even though the styles I like often look very similar! But I’m trying to work up to your level of discipline.

On the plus side (I guess?), being in Canada makes it difficult to own very many because these bags are so expensive once you add in shipping, so I’m not as willing to take a chance on a diamond in the rough. I mean, what if I can’t fix it?? So I’m happy I found this forum, because other than the help I get with the occasional splurge, I also get to admire all the beautiful bags you all have here!!

Especially since the seller has the wrong style number in the title and description. It should say 9961, 9951 is a Pat's Legacy. The correct 9961 style number doesn't even show up until you're deep in the description.

It's not what I'd call a Womens' backpack either, not only does it look heavy but it doesn't even have padded straps. My shoulders are hurting just looking at it..

I think the stewardess I have is from the 90s (authenticated here ) so it’s probably lighter. The strap is also quite long for me - I think the longest drop must be close to 20” or something.

And I agree with you on the Plaza bag! I immediately checked ebay last night after I discovered what it was and the two I found were both over $100 before shipping and customs! So maybe that bag is not in the cards for me (yet!). I would love to see your bags if you want to share, they are always so beautifully restored!

I notice that the prices on a lot of vintage bags have gone up really significantly. There are a few sellers I’ve bought from in the past (on Etsy) that I follow, and I can see that their bags are now in the hundreds of dollars range, (as much as $300-400) and they are still selling like hot cakes!!

I agree whole heartedly with this! I'm very disappointed in prices lately. Especially when a bag on auction goes to a reseller and then they sell it for 3 to 4 x the price...Ok gripe over.

Yes, some of the prices that bags sell for amaze me.
I have griped too. I felt like I was in your shoes at one point. I won’t have to deal with Canadian shipping though. I can only encourage your to stay positive and keep looking. I have found some inexpensive bags that were simply listed as Vintage Coach bags because the seller didn’t know the style. And I got smokin hot deals on fully identified bags that no one else inexplicably bid on. I also rediscovered a flea market a few towns over I made a super score at.
