Mine doesn't stay closed either. That is the only thing annoying about this bag. I think if it really bothered you, you could put something like a bobby pin, paperclip or hair clip on the drawstrings at the edge of the bag but then that would make an extra step.

I know etsy shops sell sliders for LV bucket bags - perhaps you could find one for your bag on etsy as well? :flowers:

Hmm I have a similar drawstring bag, I think mine is from the lightweights line. Previous owner had the ends tied together in the front and I didn't really like that but it did stay closed.

There's a seller on Etsy called Leatherprince who is wonderful. He's the one who made the LV sliders for us. He also makes bag charms. I have bought both from him and he is a pleasure. Gets back to you right away and ships his products lightening fast.

Thanks, ladies! I will look into these options since this bag is small & I worry that I will accidentally tip & spill everything out of it.

I do wear black and gray slacks so I like having a few black bags. I have a Patti I picked up years ago at a thrift shop and she got a lot of use, before I added substantially to my collection. I have yet to touch up the edges on it, which it needs. I have a black Saddle 9988, purchased aroun 2005 and I’ll probably keep that forever. I pull out my my black Plaza for looking snappy and my black Monterey Hobo for stuffing on a small scale.
I remember seeing a black Rambler, literally 5 minutes after it was listed with a $40 bin. It was in decent shape and I thought if I want this bag, this would be the time. I just didn’t feel the urge. I went back an hour later to post it here and it was gone . . , I’m sorry if I made anyone cry!
Forgot to add quotes from @whateve and @Catbird9 regarding black bags!
I remember seeing that Rambler listed and thinking about it too. I also didn't feel the urge. I can see how the size would be useful but I don't love the way it looks, especially in black.

Update on my Sheridan Drawstring: Although not innovative, I tried something VERY simple. I took the tied end of the drawstring on one side & simply pulled it around the other’s loop which essentially just intertwines the two & Yay!, enough resistance between them to keep the bag closed yet not make it difficult to open. I don’t believe the intertwining adds stress on the drawstrings but I will recondition the leather before wearing to maintain suppleness & a smooth glide. Hopefully my explanation makes sense?!

Is a legacy Coach bag a more modern version because I've not seen a vintage Coach with lining yet?

Here's a brief overview of the "Legacy" terminology. Note that a Coach bag with the word Legacy in the name isn't necessarily vintage (defined as more than 20 years old). Nor does it necessarily indicate whether the bag is lined or unlined.

The multi-colored striped lining that was used in many Cashin-era bags is sometimes called the "legacy striped" or "Mexican striped" lining.

The first officially named "Legacy" series that I know about were the Faith's, Janice's, Patricia's, Lula's and Helen's Legacy series, introduced Fall 1994-Winter 1995. More styles were introduced in the late 1990s:

Legacy Zip, Legacy Large Shopper, Legacy Small Flap (and possibly others) were introduced in 1997.

Rambler's Legacy, Legacy Small Zip (and possibly others) were introduced in 1998.

Legacy Satchel, #9063 (1999 - officially vintage this year!)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the above are all unlined.

Here are some examples of non-vintage, "Legacy" styles:

Legacy East and Legacy West series (2000-2001) (lined)
Legacy Drawstring #9165 (2000) (unlined)
Legacy Crescent #9718, (2002) (lined)
Legacy Leather Hippie Saddle Bag (name unverified) #9340 (2002-03?) (lined)

In 2006, in honor of the company's 65th anniversary, Coach debuted a new Legacy collection, which featured the "Legacy stripe" lining.

Others may have more or better information (and larger collections of Coach catalog files!)

There are several vintage Coach with lining. Most Bonnie Cashin (pre-creed) has lining. The Dakota, Sheridan, and Madison lines were lined. There are several styles made around 2000, almost vintage, that are also lined.

The vintage Sonomas (introduced Holiday 1994) were also lined.

I think I get it now. You put the knotted end through the loop on the same side of the bag. I was picturing carrying it over to the other side of the bag and it wouldn't reach. I'll have to carry it this week to see how it works for me.

Yep, same side. One crisscrossing of the drawstrings seems just enough on mine to not allow them to slide so easily & the bag to open.

I also have to try it out to see how it goes. I figured I could start with a simple solution & go from there as needed. ;)

I was looking at a Sonoma when I wrote that too!

In 2012, Coach came out with another Legacy collection.

Catbird9, thank you for that concise and excellent history.

For everyone else trying to find some clarity in what defines a Legacy or any other Coach naming "hook":
To reduce it to the basics - There's NO set definition, requirements, rules, standards, or categories that determine why a style is called "Legacy". It's totally at Coach's whim. Some may have a connection or resemblance to older styles, some don't. There's NO connection between style names and whether a bag is lined or not.

DON'T EVER EXPECT CARVED-IN-STONE "RULES" OR LOGIC OR CONSISTENCY FROM COACH, YOU WON'T FIND IT.

Keep repeating to yourself this mantra that we've been chanting here for at least ten years ;
"THE MOST CONSISTENT THING ABOUT COACH IS THEIR INCONSISTENCY".

Recently acquired this cute little Musette. Unfortunate that the seller did not disclose the stains/depressions on the back of the bag. Even sadder that I accepted the order by forgetting to rate the seller within three days. Oh well - I guess I’ll just have to keep it for myself! ;)

Size comparison between the Musette and Original Rambler
