Ugh that's a shame. I have that same bag, same light color as inside yours, and it's covered in stains. If you strip the paint off it you will find out why someone painted it! I would probably wipe it off with acetone. It will take a long time and a lot of paper towels! And it might not come off completely. And it will likely dry the leather a lot. How does it feel to the touch? That gorgeous Flight Bag....not so fast. It had been painted! The seller wasn’t even aware that “there was such a thing” but now I’m faced with how to repair this bag! One suggestion was using Foam Tex, but I’m not familiar.
Any suggestions?

The NYC vintage mocha flight bag with the sellers knowledged 'reddish spot' that I had authenticated here last year arrived and turned out to have been not stained but painted with a more transluscent paint which was covering a single small spot center of the bag's front. After cleaning the paint off the hardware (like seen in your picture) I too dunked. My water turned immediately red and the 'mocha' coloring was lost becoming a very mixed colored bag. I dunked again and scrubbed it with a course washcloth agressively and then proceeded to condition and condition some more. I choose not to use acetone. The color is now a perfect distressed 'wine' color that I just love. Luckily too my leather was and still remains supple. I have the original and uncolored true mocha strap layed across the front to show the color shift. Hope this gives you some confidence.Luckily the bag is still pretty supple/pliable. I did a little test with acetone on the end of the strap, where the paint was still thick and hadn't been worn away, and it did come off, but it also dried it out and took a bit of the finish off. I'm not really sure how to deal with it, I love patina, but NOT paint!
Because some of us already have a closet full of bags to use and a pile to rehab already! Why isn't this Berkeley duffle selling? Looks good to me!

Yes, in black it left me feeling, meh, too.I remember seeing that Rambler listed and thinking about it too. I also didn't feel the urge. I can see how the size would be useful but I don't love the way it looks, especially in black.
Beautiful shade. I saw this bag at a flea market over the summer, black, run into the ground, and for some reason. I was expecting it to be larger, based on seeing pics.View attachment 4321916

The flap is very dry on this. I have given it CPR 2 coats of obenaufs and blackrocks and it just seems to soak it all right up.
No I haven't heard of that one. Where do you get it?Have you ever tried renapur, it really nice, all natural, and smells awesome.
Is this the same as the one I recently authenticated? https://forum.purseblog.com/threads...ost-for-format.889527/page-2278#post-32866142 The conversation goes on for a few pages.I got the Bonnie Cash in "Chic is where you find it" book for my birthday and I am pretty excited to see this pic.. Interesting! It looks similar but mine is 11 inches tall... And the strap isn't pieced but it may well be the same. Same pocket inside but mine is the stamped cartouche. They are likely the same style. Is this the same as the one I recently authenticated? https://forum.purseblog.com/threads...ost-for-format.889527/page-2278#post-32866142 The conversation goes on for a few pages.
