Hi ladies, I have a question about the Coach Duffle bag.

I am still learning on Coach vintage bags. I noticed the extra large duffle bag (style # 9085) is always sold at high price. I am lucky to be able to score one @ $60 and rehabbed it. maybe I have not yet notice the beauty of duffle bag, I just couldn't fall in love with it. I am 5 feet 2 btw.

For the ones that owns large duffle bag and loves it, can you share your opinion ? Yes, I need someone to convince me to keep it

I hate it! It is a black hole, a deep pit, and way too big for me! It sticks out too far from my body when I wear it. There are those who love it so you could resell it easily. I much prefer the shoulder sac, which is slimmer.

Thank you for the honest reply. I felt exactly the same way. unless I need to carry my sleeping bag to run away for a night, I would never need that big black hole bag. But I prefer tote bag if I really need to carry many things, because it's bigger opening and easier to get access to things. I guess I will have to sell it and get a smaller bag.
I love your red shoulder sac. you always have so those vintage bags in such vivid colors and good condition.

Are you able to do a mod shot? I haven't seen one to understand how large it is. Being petite, I know it will be a little bigger on you but will give some scale. Would also like to see your rehab work!

Here's a listing with a mod shot. https://www.ebay.ie/itm/272132960932
Thank you, whateve! A few years ago I purchased a black pebbled duffle from the retail store that was a remake of a duffle style. I can't remember if it is similar to the one in the mod shot or not. I wound up selling it because it stuck out too much for my taste. I wound up carrying it with the strap doubled which made it a little better. I do like the blue in the mod shot, though! Would be a weekend bag for me.

The original duffle sac has too short of a strap to double. The depth is something like 9 inches, so it really sticks out a lot.

Do you like large bags?? Maybe you could go on few dates with it, start with coffee, lol. I have several bags that I did not immediately fall in love with. One bag was put away and when pulled it out to sell it, the color some how looked richer and I decided to give it a chance. Now I love it. I bought another bag impulsively, cleaned it up, and it's going bye bye. I just know!
I was really hot to get one of these big duffles way back when I could still get one in a store. I was in a factory story in JAX, saw a rack with them and a SALE sign the moment I walked in the store and went running to it. It felt heavy empty and I did not get it because I knew I would fill it to the hilt if I did.
Last month I saw one in a thrift shop and picked it up and it was still as heavy as I remembered it! And I am 5'8" with broad shoulders. I tried to sell myself on it again because it was only $15, but I knew it would end up being something that would sit on a shelf for 364 days of the year.
Sorry I am a little long winded here, and not necessarily sharing how to love this bag! What I am learning, as I am relatively new to indulging myself in vintage Coach, is that I have admired photos of many, many styles for a long long time. Now that I have bought *a few, lol * bags in variety of vintage and nesr vintage styles, it is becoming clear what styles work and do not work easily for me, given my daily routine and what I carry. I passed up a bag at a flea market last week that I always thought I would jump on if I ever saw it cheap. My girlfriend has one. I have a little mental list I run down when I look at bags and I just knew the zipper opening would annoy me as I was looking it over. Trust me , it killed me to walk away from a $20 smooshy made in Costa Rica bag!! And also this great Bleeker bucket, newer style , that was also just too heavy empty.
But the way for a bag to grow on me is to use it and give it a chance! To see if we bond ;)
Edited to add, I missed an intervening post or two. Agreed with whateve, you'll have no trouble finding a buyer!

I love my large duffle bags. They are great for work when I need to carry a thermos with my dinner in it and a bunch of other stuff. Sometimes I also carry a smaller bag with my wallet, phone and keys in it so they don't get lost in there. I have also used it to carry a yoga mat and water bottle to pilates class. Not many bags are big enough for that!

Overall as a handbag I prefer the medium size version of the duffle bag, the Legacy version. I recently got the small Maggie and it is useless to me. It's too small.
