Probably chains like Bonnie Cashin used on the swing bags. [emoji848]
Then you'd have to find suitable D-rings or hoops to accommodate the bag's riveted leather tab loops. The brazed metal rings on the Double entry Swing bags (which in fact were originally introduced with short chain straps) provide for a much easier conversion should one elect to replace the spaghetti straps (whose propensity for damage I'm confident you are already familiar with) employed on later releases. Not sure how chains (especially longer ones) would would look on this particular style though. I've provided a photo below of another strap design (albeit elaborate and from a few years earlier) that terminates in a slightly different riveted leather loop for period reference.

Personally, I'd replace these non-salvageable straps with ones made from identical spaghetti strap stock. But frankly, I'm not convinced that the asking price is attractive enough to balance out the time and effort of doing a full rehab and strap replacement (even if it is a great color).

ETA: Sorry, my slow fingers prevented me from picking up your later D-ring post.

Where does one find the spaghetti strap stock?!?

I give all you ladies a slow clap on this one. Showing much more ambition than I would!

Very challenging to find leather cord that matches the style COACH used. I'll share with you that I've recycled material taken from other period bags (that used this style strap) as well as experimented with newly manufactured stitched leather cord stock (which on close examination is admittedly is quite different from the fold-and-stitch configuration used). Besides color-matching, one has to address the challenge of salvaging the leather wrapped metal crimps. The total effort involved is non-trivial unless one stumbles upon a closely colored period spaghetti strap. Then one only has to deal with remove-and-replacing the rivets on the four tabs along with any color issues.

Now I see what you mean about the price not being low enough. It is way too much work and I'm afraid I'm not so dedicated due to lack of time and materials. I am guessing the cost will go over the bag's price if I were to hand it over to a leather worker. Sigh. I feel sad for this beauty. [emoji22]

I bought this bag and had to return it because the strap alteration wasn’t disclosed. End has been chopped off and a new hole punched. Seller should have added a clear pic of that on the new listing. Here’s photos I took of it.View attachment 3956468View attachment 3956470
Might be worth bidding at $20 and I would just get rid of the strap all together and wear it with my Dylan's strap. [emoji16]inCollage_20180125_122609842.jpg

Would you buy this? It's straps are in kinda sad condition. Really sad.

my daughter is looking for a vintage Willis; not a bag i've ever been interested in particularly. The one she wants has a creed starting J5C , but the seller lists it as Dominican Republic.
To me that sounds wrong? doesnt C in a creed = United States still? or am i misremembering my creed letters?

You are recalling correctly. No Creed photo?
