Annoyed by where it ended up and already for sale. [emoji849]

Indeed, don't get me started on a flipper rant. But actually, the one in the listing you reference is different than the one that sold on Mercari. That one had a (correct) turnlock on the flap tab, whereas the one in this link appears to have suffered from modification. If I had to guess, this may be the one that buckeyebaker mentioned selling in her previous post (#8762).

Oh I didn't realize it's not the same! I'm ok with flippers that ask fair price. She isn't one of them. [emoji17]

Do you think the modification is the button closure? Because on the old Bloomingdales ad a couple pages back, I think it shows the same odd closure. Hard to tell since it's a drawing, but I think it looks like it?IMG_0501.jpg

Excellent pickup. Indeed it does appear to show that two position stud-and-keyhole arrangement. You'd think that since I was the one who posted that advert, I'd have given it a closer inspection. I stand corrected, but will stick to my opinion that the turnlock is aesthetically and functionally superior to the button-like configuration.

Agreed, the turnlock is much better looking :)

no this is not the one i sold. i sold a similar bag, but one with suspender straps [to the same person who is now selling this navy bag. the navy bag is different from the one that just sold on Mercari (which is black). when the navy one surfaced originally, there was lots of chatter over whether the clasp had been modified or not; unfortunately the Bloomie ad is not clear enough to tell whether there's one or two slits, but they do seem to be original to the bag.

i much prefer the bag minus the suspender strap, which is the only reason i sold mine.

I am amazed at the prices at which some flippers list, then are willing to keep the price that high for years. The Pony Express I sold a few years ago that ended up with a flipper is still listed for sale. I don't understand that business model.

I sold it though a Facebook group of collectors and thought it would go to a collector. Unfortunately, it went to the guy who runs ProVintageGear (and often sells fakes) on Etsy. I didn't know who he was at that time, or I never would have sold it to him. He didn't end up selling it for a profit. He just sold it for about what he paid me to another flipper who has it priced at a ridiculous amount so no one will buy it.

ha ha, he bought one of my suspender bags ages and ages ago, and it's still up on his site, for thrice what he paid, go figure. interesting though, how the price of pony express bags has dropped. i still LOVE them, and finally have my HG versions. but there's one up now for so cheap, looks so nice, but nobody is buying it. i'm tempted, but have to remind myself i have my 2 keepers, and that's all i need!!

I always wonder how to wear the bag! I don't have one and you can't wear it crossbody but to me it looks like a crossbody. Again, I don't have one so I'm just guessing. I feel it's strap needs to be longer and the bag itself needs another inch of depth. [emoji87][emoji16]

I sold mine because I found it unusable as a purse, and it is too small for anything else. You are correct that the strap is way too short to wear crossbody. It is a deceptively small bag and doesn't fit very much. I also don't like bags I have to fumble with to open.

On the other hand, I love my musettes, but I don't use them as purses. I use them as a small briefcase, so I don't mind the turncocks to open on the front.

agree with all of the above. i dont wear crossbody, ever, so for me the strap is perfect for shoulder half an inch would certainly help, no argument there. but overall i just love the shape of this bag, everything about it.
