Looks great - and how nice that you have something of your Dad's to use every day!I have no idea how old this bag is, but my dad had it since I was a kid. He used it for all his toiletries and it has seen a lot of spills/etc. A couple years ago my mom took it out of storage and it was in rough condition. Had some leftover shaving cream spots, lots of water marks, etc. She was going to throw it away, but I thought maybe throw it in the washer and see what happens. It survived the washer and I have been using it as a makeup bag ever since. I absolutely love it and the fact it used to be my dads makes it even more special.Anyways, just thought I'd share it here. I hope this is the right place. Really wish I had taken a before picture prior to putting it in the washer!
Thanks, will check those out too!Between my black Monterey hobo and Lite Tote, I am seriously connecting with the Lightweights!![]()
Beautiful!!!!!Me too! I'm rehabbing this 4075 Bucket Bag right now. The leather is gorgeous, hardly what I would call lightweight.
I love neutrals, but after buying a few satchels, I've realized I just won't carry them, even though I love the look. I need my hands free. I've tried satchels with a shoulder strap, but those don't look right on me either.Who was the fan of neutral bags again... Taupe isn't my favorite or I'd have bought this soft satchel already.

I think this Satchel looks best hand carried. I also like my hands free. I have two like these and sold the smaller one already.I love neutrals, but after buying a few satchels, I've realized I just won't carry them, even though I love the look. I need my hands free. Oooooohhhhhh, nice. I can't say there is any bag I am seriously hunting down at the moment, but if I crossed paths with this style at the right price . . .Me too! I'm rehabbing this 4075 Bucket Bag right now. The leather is gorgeous, hardly what I would call lightweight.
I don't have any Sonoma's for comparison. But I have used a navy Bleeker (9302 Tote I think ?) heavily and a black Patricia's Legacy heavily. When I dunked my Lightweight Tote recently (aka shiny tote) as a side note, because it is a lighter butterscotchy kind of color, when wet, it turned a really pukey taupe color that I am pretty sure is not found in nature. If you have dunked a light bag you know exactly what I mean. When wet, it showed all kinds of scrapes and scratches not all visible before dunking. Bag had wear, no doubt about it. With conditioner, as it dried, all scratches n scrapes blended wonderfully , not to be seen. So I am very impressed with the quality and durability of the leather. Thanks, will check those out too!
Are the Soho and other lightweights as durable as Sonomas do you think?
I am tough on my purses it seems, and the pebbled leather sonomas are very forgiving of that.
(I bought a cute Madison in Mandarin that I don't use as it gets dinged too easily. I can always sell it, but annoying! I'm trying not to own things I won't use, even if it IS a pretty Coach vintage bag.)
So just wondering about others' experiences with lightweights.

That is so funny - today I dunked a Lightweight Shoulder Pouch #4025 and it's lying on top of my washing machine on a towel. It's the most awful shade of light greenish beige. I think it might turn into Khaki or Taupe eventually. It's always interesting watching colors change as bags dry!
Here's a catalog shot from around 1988. QUOTE]
You know exactly lol! Ohhh you have the bucket and the draw string on your catalog pages! Last fall, when I became serious about rehabbing, I stopped by a local consignment shop that often had vintage Coach for sale. They had a beautiful drawstring shoulder bag shown in your catalog pic in a creamy soft/faded yellow in pristine condition, about $79, if I recall. While certainly not cheap (especially if you access to good thrifting in your area), that struck me as a good value for a bag that appeared basically unused.
Ughhh lol, I got caught up in major job disatifaction this week which manifested in late night bidding. I now have two bags coming to me next week.![]()
@Catbird9 I see your catalog lists your bucket as 4070 Bucket Bag Small. I am curious, does your catalog list a medium or large version?
