@whatev I think a while back you mentioned missed out on an orange belted pouch? I just spotted this one on Etsy (not sure if authentic, and not my listing)... https://www.etsy.com/listing/515736600/coach-bucket-bag-crossbody-bag-belted
Yes, someone already pointed that out to me. Funny thing, this is the exact same bag I didn't buy! When I went back, it was gone, so now I know who bought it! I don't know how I feel about buying the bag, knowing what she paid. DH is telling me no.

Ooh... toughie! I don't think I could get myself to pay more knowing it was the same exact bag. But depends, I don't how common this bag is in orange... hard to find?

It was the first and only one I've ever seen, which is why I should have bought it. I have it in blue and really don't carry it much, although it is a perfect size. I probably wouldn't use orange much; it would be more just to have it in my collection. I don't really need to add to my collection.

Also check out the pre-creed drawstring bag by the same seller! I'm not into drawstrings but I have to admit that one's nice (minus the piping issue) Not my listing either.
Nice bag, but the upper edge issues look similar to a #9565 Large Shopping Bag that's currently sitting on the workbench here waiting to have it's aperture binding fully removed and replaced. Too many cracks, worn spots, and questionable areas to apply oversplice repairs to. Doable, but very tedious and timeconsuming even if you have the correct width, weight, and color binding stock on hand.

Is there a place you can buy the right sized binding, already cut?

Now you're testing my memory.... I can't recall who exactly I bought the strip stock I currently have in my leather remnants box. That info I believe is on an old temperamental computer that, like me, refuses to function as well as it used to. I do though have a bookmark (provided below) on this newer laptop for and the site appears to offer weights (2-3 oz), widths (5/8", 3/4") , and lengths (44-58") suitable for binding. Please note that the product info says that the finished widths are 1/16" less than the full width when completed.

I hope that this is helpful.

Vintage Bag Question: Would the dry leather on this bag worry anyone? Does it look like it just needs a good conditioning or is the "cracking" too severe?

Please give it a look:

It's an almost impossible call to make without actually handling the leather. If the leather has achieved through-thickness potato chip status, then it's beyond the point of no return. The provided close-up appears to provide evidence of surface dryness past the desired threshold (surface cracking as opposed to grain effects). That said, I'd suggest thoroughly conditioning (multiple applications over the course of a few days) it with a quality moisturizer and then checking to see how pliable the leather is as well as the hand (feel) of the surface. If it's still stiff, then the situation speaks for itself. Also, remember that dryness in leather can be due to various historical factors such as long-term storage in a hot, dry environment, or chemically induced (improper use of solvents and cleaners). After all, it still is a natural material that can only put up with so much abuse.

Good luck with you rehab efforts. I'm confident that this item can be stabilized and further harm prevented.

Omg I saw that precreed drawstring and I am in :heart::heart:. Just not with the price. I have a sling bag with some stains on the bottom otherwise very good, that will just have to wait a little longer for a friend. Sigh.
