Thanks! She's well on her way to beautiful again :)

Can't say so much for this 1994 Sterling Clutch #9945 though :( LOTS of ball point ink under the flap. There are more pics on the AT thread. Still thought it was a good deal for $5.99 though. I think I'll need some acrylic to fix this one. I budged the ink a bit, but at least it's all under the flap. Conditioning now...more on rehab thread when I'm done.
Well, this one will keep you busy for awhile. Looking forward to photos when it's done. :-)

I went to look and found a suggested listing for another painted Coach, from buyer diamondedge888. The item number is 131329051655.

I guess I just don't understand it. It seems like painting it would ruin the value of the leather completely, especially on a Coach bag. Even the thrift stores are catching on that vintage coach is selling well. But since I don't know much about styles and cost now, I could be wrong.

However, it totally ruins the look of a classic bag to me.

Most of us agree with you.

OMG! Apparently, some people are really into the painted bags. There is a Russian artist who sells painted bags for hundreds so these are a bargain compared to those.

I contacted the seller of the button bag and tried to do a BIN at a reasonable price but he said that he is getting great feedback from button collectors. I didn't bother to tell him that he would have gotten his price without those buttons. Poor bag....

OOOOH LA LA MA CHERIE ..C'est tres belle..
What I did not say?? The painted bags per se don't bother me in theory, my prob is that the painters can't paint for the most part..and those "studders" can't make symmetrical designs..I'm assuming that its not intentional that those studs are haphazardly placed..
other than that me says..Vive la vie!!!
actually there is a REAL Artist on etsy that paints silk...she then restores bags with painted silk fabric..pretty fantabulous stuff~IMHO...aaaah, I'm not really that humble!!!
A Bientot ~A sante etc etc..............

A Great Find this morning. Many years ago, I saw a stewardess with the most wonderful handbag. I never forgot it. I found this one this morning in navy blue and purchased it immediately. It's here in Florida so should be a quick ship, I hope. :-)

wow, fantastic find! Great price too. It almost looks like a Coach. It looks like it has been covered with shoe polish so you'll have a rehabbing challenge.

Thanks, Whateve. I am almost positive it is a Coach as Bonnie Cashin signed a contract with UA. That has been documented. There is an earlier version of these bags that has the early Coach creed and the front has a classic Cashin turnlock. The UA symbol is stamped onto the ends of the shoulder strap. I will give the bag a cleaning before conditioning it. Hopefully, it's cheap polish. :-D

What I have never seen is a bag from American Airlines but the Barbie dolls carried a bag that looks exactly like a vintage Coach Courier bag with the leather tongue on the front. I sure would love to find one of those with the AA on it. :-)

You should contact that Jeb guy, the coach expert at the archives..I bet he would know whether the UA bag was designed by Bonnie Cashin..I've seen several of those UA `not COACH bags..salearea has had a couple too.she might know..I believe they were made in Italy in the 1980s..it would be interesting to find out if its a true CASHIN design..
I have 2 UA COACH stewardess bags..the black w/brown stitching? and a Tabac..Too bad I'm too old to FLY as a Waitress in the Sky...:wlae:
