And I hear the housing and women's fashion is great there too!

That reminds me of a cartoon about a Saudi fashion show I saw in the 80s. It looked a lot like this: http://arabiguitar.blogspot.com/2009/07/aya-ali-al-mulla-crowned-miss-moral.html When we lived in Saudi Arabia, the abayas that the women wore even covered their eyes. It was shear enough that they could see out. They all wore normal western clothes inside their houses and while at other people's houses, but out in public they were completely covered.

I always thought it was interesting that the men wear white while the women have to wear black in the blistering heat. It has been known to get up to 126 degrees Fahrenheit.

I'm not sure which is worse, women being judged on how good they look in a bikini and evening dress, or being judged on their morality and obedience.

Wearing black in that heat would certainly discourage you from going out which I guess is part of it's purpose. The positive side is it wouldn't matter if you were having a bad hair day or didn't have time to do your makeup!

We recently had some controversy here when there was an attempt to prevent women wearing burqas / abayas from sitting in the public gallery of Australian Parliament. They were to sit in a special glassed off area. It was a typical reactionary measure by our current idiot government following some terrorist threat. It was quashed pretty quickly on the grounds of race discrimination.

Here are the Sonoma 4935s who graciously agreed to pose for this morning's photo. I really love these bags. Gorgeous leather (Nubuc). Both the Tan and the gray are new with tags and the gray one came with its original box. The rose bag is slightly used but required less than ten minutes to make her to look just as new as the others. :-)

They are all so beautiful! I love my green one. Now I wish I could find one in natural grain in a pretty color.

Thanks, Whateve. I have a natural grain in a beautiful rich tan color (chestnut) and a double zip in dark green and I am almost finished with a natural grain drawstring bag in tomato red. Then there's the natural grain pocket zips in white and navy so I am in great shape for Sonomas. They seem to keep finding me. :-) I've attached a photo of the 4928 in chestnut. It is such a beautiful color.

That is beautiful! I bet the tomato is gorgeous too.

That is a very pretty color.

That is my first Sonoma and one of my absolute favorite bags. I love the Nubuc but I am careful with it. The chestnut bag is very usable and a perfect color for fall which is my favorite time of year. Lately, Sonomas keep popping up in front of me and they are hard to resist.

It's so pretty and what a great find! I have a bag with the faceted bead chain, but have yet to get one with the cute little anchors.

It's so clean too!

Thanks...she has had a bath...and for the first time ever, I had luck using hairspray on the ink on the suede side of the front flap...not so much on the creed, but oh well :)

Very nice, JOODLZ! I have a bag on the way - great buy on eBay - and it's coming from Naples not far from you. :-)

I was thrilled to find it so cheap...and in good shape. There's a small split on one of the straps (not disclosed by the seller by the way, but ok by me). I can easily fix it with a little clear acrylic.

Nice find Joodlz. She will clean up well.

Thanks! She's well on her way to beautiful again :)

Can't say so much for this 1994 Sterling Clutch #9945 though :( LOTS of ball point ink under the flap. There are more pics on the AT thread. Still thought it was a good deal for $5.99 though. I think I'll need some acrylic to fix this one. I budged the ink a bit, but at least it's all under the flap. Conditioning now...more on rehab thread when I'm done.
