I love this bag. I'm on a strict bag ban or I might consider this one. I really appreciated the long straps on the one I had a few years ago. I don't have to carry so much stuff back and forth to work anymore or I might talk myself into buying this.

It's gorgeous! It looks like mahogany, not burgundy.

Ok opinions here...
I have this precreed Convertible Clutch.
It's leather is thin and hard...no softness to it at all.
Was wondering if they ever made any of these out of Buffalo leather or have I just got a bag with really hard leather.
Just asking...have always wondered...only piece in my collection with leather like this.

It's gorgeous! I don't think it is buffalo but the leather they used for some pre-creed bags isn't the same as later bags. Often it is thinner. Some of them came with a tag that said old fashioned harness leather.

That must be it then...its hard like a saddle leather would be...I believe, not having ever touched any saddles.

It’s a beautiful bag for sure. I have one in grey and I love it

Is it rust? I have a preCreed rust large Saddle bag. The leather of the flap is fairly supple and thick. I have a rust shoulder bag that has a Creed, pre registration # and the leather is thin and on the flap is supple enough too, but the rest of the bag is a bit stiff. Makes me wonder if they were using thinner leather for smaller bags. I have that extra large Shopping Bag, Creed, pre reg # and that leather is gorgeous.

I think it's red but the outside has much fading...bit I'm calling it rust from now on...the chances of my ever getting an actual rust bag is pretty slim so I will fake it till I make it.

All the leather is stiff...not just one piece and it's not got the leather binding..its been rolled and sewn.

Hello!

Originally I posted this to the Coach chat - yikes for duplicating, but I’m not sure how to remove the other reply.

I just received my first vintage XL Duffle Sac (authenticated by Hyacinth), in the mail and I guess I’m looking for reassurance. My other vintage Coach bags are smaller (Willis and Taylor) and more structured. The leather is thick, heavy, and buttery.

The Duffle Sac I just received, dated for the year after my favorite Willis, is not as supple, not as thick.

It’s still a beautiful bag to look at, but I’m disappointed that it doesn’t have the same luxurious feel I was expecting. It feels…kinda thin and lackluster. Gives me Michael Kors (no shade) leather vibes.

I don’t have another Duffle Sac to compare this to - but were these purses made with lighter weight leather due to the slouchy style? I waited for so long to finally buy a bag online since I couldn’t find it in person. Now that I have it, I don’t know, I’m kinda kicking myself. I’m not sure that I would’ve bought it had I been able to handle it first.

Could some of the plasticky-ness come from the type of leather conditioner previously applied? Also - it smells like very strong dryer sheets. Baking soda? Any other suggestions? I’m debating a dunk and recondition. It’s currently airing out on my patio.

Thank you!

I saw your post in the Authenticate thread--that is a beautiful duffle. Apparently the seller had cleaned and conditioned it, that may account for the dryer sheet smell and the different feel to the leather. Depending on what products she used, the feel and softness of the leather could be affected. If you chose to dunk it, you couldn't hurt it. Applying lots of conditioner, starting when it's still damp / wet from the dunk, could definitely soften it up. You could also just try conditioner. I strongly recommend Leather CPR. I have many duffle sacs, from many years and many factories, and all responded to multiple (7+ spaced out with buffing) coats of conditioner. Good luck and keep us posted.
