Just seems very wasteful and irresponsible to me on so many levels.

Some time ago, there was a poster on the Dooney subforum who deconstructed a fake Dooney to show how crappily it was made. I get that and don't have a problem with it at all since whether it's deconstructed or left intact, it would likely end up in a landfill so to make his point, I don't see an issue. But for genuine items?

DH thinks I should do this with my entire collection. My worry is that my favorites would be the first to sell and I'd be left with bags I'm meh about.
List your collection minus your favorites. Win2! If somebody bites then you got way more than you invested in the bag. Problem is seller’s remorse, and wanted it back after it’s out of your collection. Ha!

I think the market is just going to get more expensive as much exposure as vintage Coach is getting.

Thank you for sharing. I watched a few of his videos and he said his dissections bothered some luxury police and got him banned of Insta at one point. I couldn’t imagine why!? Lol! He is stating what we already know though, you pay premium for luxury not for the products but the status the goods bring. You essentially pay for the experience and that’s okay too.
You are welcome.
I am just glad somebody else did these, to study the leather and craftsmanship in various brands, because I won’t do that to any of my bags. He does have his own line of leather goods, but he tried his best to give his unbiased opinion about leather and craftsmanship of other brands.
It seems vintage Coach offers the most bang for the bucks(if you restore your own bags).
As to Chanel, it is for the experience and status, which is above my status. If I get a Chanel bag, then I need to upgrade my entire closet & places I shop too. Otherwise people will think me carrying a fake if I shop at Costco or Winners.
I feel right at home with Vintage Coaches.

Nah...If I got a Chanel I would get the wear out of it...Going to the dentist...wear the Chanel..
Going to the farmers market...wear the Chanel..!
Bike ride along the beachfront...Wear the Chanel!

I'm going to get my monies worth out of it.

I would do the same! I’d be wearing that Chanel in sweats/yoga pants going to the gym. Haha!

I have a 1990 lambskin Chanel coin purse. It is very nice. I've been using it every day for 4 years and it still looks great. I bought it second hand for about $100. It has scratched the itch of owning a Chanel. I don't need to get a purse (unless I find one at a thrift store.) I think they've lost their attraction for me due to having seen them too often.

Still looks like new. Very nice little coin purse.

So out of curiosity with the discussion of Chanel:

If you could comfortably splurge on designer bags, would you opt out & instead buy everything rare on your vintage coach wish-lists instead? Even with the possibility of those bags dropping in value in the future?

I have a cousin who only buys high end designer bags. When I visit her & she shares her “latest editions”, they just don’t excite me the same way vintage coach does.

I think it’s a combination of finding rare bags, the rehab transformations & connecting with other Coachies that keeps my bag collecting going. If vintage coach wasn’t a thing, Id probably only have a few bags & not really think much of them.

Rare coloured Courier > Chanel any day!

I would probably use the money to buy rarer vintage Coach too. It’s the idea that they don’t make them anymore and is a rarity so I don’t see them quite often, at least in my area.

I’m sorry to bug anybody but I have searched for a few days now for the style number for the small classic pouch to no avail. Can someone please share that information with me? I appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks so much in advance

Not sure if this is what you are looking for but could it be the Classic Shoulder bag 9170? It would be easier to identify the style number if you post a picture of the bag.

I would choose to buy my HG vintage Coach bags too.
I was browsing the Rue La La luxury bag boutique last night ( has many high end brands, event ends in a day or two), honestly not thrilled of any of those. Edge paint is a big no no to me, then coating or heavy finishing on leather surface is a big no too. Also I don’t like huge Logo stands out like a sore thrumb, nor overly complicated designs. No way I will spend thousands on one of those bags, I will get a vintage Coach Saddlery in every color instead. Just my own personal preference.
