I also won the auction for this (not yet vintage) beauty last night! Kindly authenticated by BB and whatev! Possibly the same colour as whatev's Janice also from Costa Rica 2004! :hbeat:

Are the Janices from this era burnished and does that change the restoration process?

Note the interesting error in the creed. BB explained that this Janice is from 2004, but the Costa Rican plant omitted the 0 making it appear to be from 1994.

Mine was made a few months before yours and doesn't have burnished in the creed. I wouldn't think it would change the rehab. It's possible the color was supposed to have variations. On some burnished bags, I see a variation from light to dark; on others, it is just the texture of the bag that changes. The burnishing makes them very smooth.

I find the Stewardess bag a bit heavy and cumbersome mostly because of that big flap, but also the shoulder strap seems wide and awkward. I love the way the bag looks however. Among my vintage Coaches I find myself using my Patricia bag the most. It's similar to the Stewardess but feels less cumbersome and heavy. It has a nice zip top under the flap and it's easier to get into.

I love the look of my stewardess bag but in terms of functional it depends on what’s important for you. It has the thicker strap which makes it more comfortable. You can also adjust it so you can rest your arm nicely. I also love the feet details at the bottom. You could look at style # 9966 Janice Legacy I think it’s called. Similar design features and meant to be comfy

I’m super excited! The large Shopping Bag tote in an interesting color like saddle or rust has been on my Holy Grail list. For a long time. I have a hard time paying some of the online prices for a bag without being able to see it up close first, especially if you can’t return it! On top of it, online prices and bidding have just gone through the roof of late, right? So I have accepted the fact I may need to wait until I see them at a thrift shop or flea market, if ever … And reminded myself to just keep busy with my rehab pile!
What do I find last Saturday morning? An auction that is about to end for a light tan leather bag that looks like the one on the left, #9510. From the sketch, it looks to be as tall as the large Shopping Bag, but wider. :panic: The bidding was low, the bag looked very good and I decided to lol pry open my wallet and go for it. I was expecting others to be all hot and bothered for it the way I was but no and I got it! Will post more as soon as I get it.
