Okay, beauties. Are you ready for heart-wrenching news?

Our shipment arrived from America today. I’m missing two of four x-large heavy duty Home Depot boxes of vintage Coach bags. I can’t bring myself to open the two lonely boxes I have and see what’s missing. I’m teary.

No doubt they were taken. No hope I will see them again. Sigh. That’s all I have. Solidarity, please :crybaby:
Fingers crossed they will turn up!

I was just talking to hubby and I realized that the big bins are what’s missing. My duffle sacs, rambler, rambler’s legacy, city bags, Helen’s legacy, etc. all of the bags that are too large to fit in a large shoe box. Omg ladies. I’m so sad. Why couldn’t it have been kitchen supplies or something silly gone missing

eta I got insurance claims docs already. They’re not going to try to track them down

That’s very sad to hear, especially because of all the rehab work you put in. I really hope they miraculously turn up again :(.

Yessssss. It was like my year investment in future happiness. Packed nicely for a new life.

maybe there’s room in the grand scheme of things for them to find their way back to me. Life: I don’t need anymore lemons, please!

I actually wouldn’t even mind doing all of the rehab over again with a lump sum claim for my bag addiction. There’s hope for that as well. Anyone with me?! Please insurance, I’ll take 10k for bags and supplies plz. Ty

Fortunately I haven't had to make many insurance claims. Do they give you replacement value? That's a lot more today than it was two years ago. :-s

They're going to turn up, I just know it! I would be upset too. Can you put out a trace on the boxes with the shipping company or something? They must be able to be held accountable.

That's heartbreaking! We lost two custom made bracelets when we moved, one of which we had mined the gems ourselves. I can imagine your fear in opening the remaining boxes. You've got to do it.

I really don’t think the insurance will give me anything. Boxes arrived moldy and beat up in our last international move, so I packed everything myself this time. Boxes were still square shaped when they arrived :) Howeverrrrrr, the insurance has no documentation of what was in those boxes. Just what I say there was, and that’s not good enough. They’ll probably take the total value of our shipment, divide it by number of boxes, and give me $200 per missing box. With a $500 deductible. Which pays out $100 in the end for over 50 missing bags. Sigh.

I initiated a trace. I really really hope I hear back. At least about the one that was lost since going through customs here in the UK. The ones that never made it on the boat in July, I have little hope for.

omg @whateve. Mining gems yourselves for custom made jewelry has to be beyond the replaceable category of belongings. Luckily I packed a separate suitcase for all of our important files and mementos. I was torn tho, because sometimes luggage on a plane gets tossed around and lost more easily than (or so I thought) a crated international shipment. ‘Losing’ three of our boxes was not in my game plan.

Thinking positive thoughts for the boxes to come through!

do these small leather pieces count as vintage since they’re from a couple of years ago? Kip crossbody shown because I‘m currently in love with it

I'm so sorry @Nataluccia3 :crybaby: I can't imagine how you are feeling but this makes me sick to my stomach thinking the same thing happening to me. I know bags are bags but I might actually cry out loud. Lots of hugs for you and prayers that you get your boxes turn up!

I have certainly cried, @houseof999 . Haha more tears than I am willing to admit.

there’s a black Lula for sale within my reach right now. I’m tempted to console myself with a therapeutic splurge.

It is confusing because while they are not vintage in age, they are more or less updates of vintage styles from the ‘90s. If you are inclined, go to the Reference sub forum and find the thread with vintage catalogs. Go to the mid to late ‘90s and you will see!
Eta, LOL go at your own risk ….

Found this NYC Classic Shoulder Bag (current style No. 9170) at a thrift store and fell for her hook-line-and-sinker! Wasn't until I got her home that I questioned the two-tone strap and the less than stellar workmanship on the strap. Have sent in a request for someone at TPF to give me a second opinion. Fingers crossed!
This is great information!
Response from Hyacinth 01/03/22: The bag is fine. The shoulder strap simply looks like the 2 types of leather have taken the dye differently or faded differently with time. You can't really "authenticate" a strap unless it has obvious problems that would never occur with a real Coach part. The piping used for straps had to be thinner and more flexible that the leather used in the body of the strap or the bag itself
