Just to chime in I have several bags, made in NYC with minor imperfections. This stitching is wonky on the turn of the strap, the reg. numbers are stamped slightly out of line with line with the Creed. I have seen listings for bags made pre 1993-4 where instead of inserting a dash they used a number and where a digit was stamped halfway between two numbers.
Was your bag marked irregular? One of mine is. As has been said, this is the testimony of something created individually, by hand. Like the rings on a hand-thrown piece of pottery.

I have two bags with the extra number instead of the dash. One is my compartment bag. I can't remember the other. Now I'll have to look.

Both of my Stations flaps are at a slight slant. Not very bad though.

I got a compliment in public on vintage bag for the first time today... and it was was from a guy! I was using the basic bag I recently dyed and browsing at Ulta, and a guy that worked there said "Is that an old Coach bag? It's so simple and perfect." Or something along those lines. It was kinda awesome that it was a guy that noticed it haha!

Since you are a fan of aqua, and several others here too, check out this interesting color block aqua/gray Sonoma, with tag!! I love finding these listings/bags that show Coach was making all kinds of unusual combos with their leathers!

@Hyacinth Have you seen this colorblock style before?

So back to this beauty ..... We have kicked around here the idea that some of the more interesting color bags seem to have the dye applied almost like a layer additionally, as opposed to seeping through the entire full grain leather. That is the case for my bone/white NYC Dinky. My NYC bags that are likely putty seem dyed through the entire layer of leather. My late '90s Ergo in a light color, I think Butterscotch per the catalog and '90-ish Light Tote in what I believe is Chamois, or something very close, also appear to be a full dye.

Is the color of this unique girl more of a layered application or evenly dyed through the entire thickness of the leather?? Inquiring minds want to know!

Yes! I also want to know! Fingers crossed, a leaf bag is making it's way to me soon. It has a bit of wear and I was hoping a bubble bath is all she'll need to revive her. I've restored red bags before but this will be my first green. Worried the colour is more of a surface application.

The good news is that there a many people here who have done amazing color restorations. Fingers crossed!

I don't think that was deliberate, unless Coach did a repair and the customer wanted a 2-tone. I don't ever remember seeing any other 2-tones in any Sonoma style. Or maybe it could be a factory mistake, maybe the Quality Control people were out to lunch, or the worker that made it was color blind (BTW, I'm NOT trying to insult color blind people!). The bag has an Outlet mark and the colors might be the reason. I really don't think it was supposed to be that way but it definitely makes it unique. If it was some kind of pilot bag for a possible 2-tone line I've never heard about it so if anyone's seen another one besides the ones with different color binding or piping I'd love to hear about it. Or maybe it was just re-dyed on that panel.
