Maybe @Lake Effect lives nearby?Okay, I'm so sad that this buyer won't ship, but if anyone is in the neighbourhood.....
(20+) Marketplace - Vintage Coach Bag | Facebook
If I can't have it, I hope somebody here can. Not authenticated.
I just figured if someone was in the market. Hahaha the pickings are relatively slim up here. It’s especially hard to find treasures in the wild and usually the exchange and shipping is more than the cost of the bag when you buy from Etsy or auction sites. You guys are in the land of milk and honey. I miss my thrifting jaunts across the border and should know better than to tempt fate. Every time I have a further afar look at Facebook, I’m amazed, in a good way, at what people are selling.Maybe @Lake Effect lives nearby?
Beautiful! Is the wood considered to be "burled" wood?I've worked a lot with antique brass and it can be polished nicely as well as adding a clear coat to protect it. Tarnishing will always happen but there are ways to polish it.
Example of brass cleaning.. This is an art deco walnut nightstand with 100 year old Bakelite (that's the plastic dome part) with solid antique brass handles that I made for my sister. The brass was a mess. I removed all the lacquer, polished and applied a clear coat. They turned out amazing!
I know art deco style is not appealing to many but this was for my sister and her specifications. I wanted to show that brass is easier to work with than most anticipate.
Thanks! This is not burled. Burled wood happens because of bug infestation. Supposedly the lumber I picked up was from a tree that was hit by lightening. I'll take that assessment with a grain of salt but it's not uncommon to find walnut wood grain like this. The pic is of the wood and what it looked like "raw" and in the lumber yard.Beautiful! Yes, I have found a few things on Kijiji, but being in Toronto is both a blessing and a curse. There's more people getting rid of bags, but also more people looking to aquire bags.Do you check Kijiji often? I’ve found several great deals there. There’s usually always a good listing if you look often enough!![]()

Mother Nature can really make some beautiful wood!!Thanks! This is not burled. Burled wood happens because of bug infestation. I might be partially guilty thereI noticed the listings I find in Toronto are usually overpriced as well. Not sure what’s going on in the city lol![]()
Hope you feel better now!I sold all the bags I didn’t “love” recently & I feel lighter, like a weight has been lifted. I tried to take some pics for the flex thread but the lighting was horrible. I might try again when I don’t feel so crappy (got sick & lost my voice over the weekend). Highly recommend a purge if you feel like you have too many bags, it feels so good to free up space!![]()

LOL!!!I might be partially guilty there. A lot of people just look at asking prices on eBay and poshmark and think that they can get those prices for their (usually very abused) bags. I would never sell anything I hadn't rehabbed first. Haha, I usually meet personally with buyers and they are always pleasantly surprised at the condition of my bags.
Even stores are selling beat up filthy bags for top price. I've had shopkeepers tell me "customers like them like that. It's vintage. " Gross.
