Yes, true. I also feel that this is encouraging many folks to be flippers- not collectors. And that is driving prices up. Inventory is there, thousands of listings for vintage coach on resale sites. But the problem is that every flipper with a black Patty or Willis thinks they can get $200 for it, when in reality they are plentiful and worth far less. The market is hot right now, it will cool off when all those flippers figure out it isn't as easy money as they hoped.

My biggest gripe with resellers is that they don’t even rehab the bags & then they have the audacity to say things like “excellent condition” or “like new” for bags with very visible wear...

Or my personal favorite, " it will look great with a little conditioner, which I will leave to buyer to decide on"

Is anyone else baffled on who can afford to pay these prices for vintage coach?

I feel like because of this, the used marketplace for vintage coach is getting really high now and you cannot find deals like you used to....
Wow, if anyone wants to pay me $695 cad for each of my Willises, I’ll sell them all!!

We were talking about this a few pages back in the thread. At the time, they didn’t have the Willis, small flap, Quincy or lunchbox listed. Those prices are honestly insane! :faint:
The restored collection is online only. They can look up people’s orders in their system. I think you’re right though, they probably did do something to the creeds so that they’ll be able to tell the difference! Maybe adding a stamp or something?

And what's a complete turn-off for me is that THERE'S NO WAY TO CHECK THE SERIAL NUMBER TO VERIFY THAT IT'S AUTHENTIC. They're using the "NEW" made-up style numbers that Coach just started using in 2020 that have NO connection to the original numbers! For instance, the "new" style number for that Willis is C7859. How does that connect back to 9927?

It would be bad enough if they just added the new number to the old creed, but if the bags are getting new creeds and numbers that's even worse. They expect us to pay a king's ransom for something that may not even be genuine and we have no way whatsoever to be sure it's even authentic. And we may not even have any way of knowing when the original was made. The history of the bag would be gone. (If anyone has seen pics here of the creed in one of those that were absolutely positively bought from Coach and can include the date purchased, please post them. Thanks!)

While Debi may be qualified to spot mistakes in construction details of vintage styles that's she's familiar with that might indicate a fake, she doesn't have anything even close to the experience the authenticators here have for spotting mistakes in the serial numbers and production codes that would point to a fake, and neither does anyone else at Coach.

I'll stick with REAL vintage that I'm sure is what it's supposed to be, thank you very much. There's a limit as to how much Bag Botox and plastic surgery a vintage Coach can handle before it stops being a classic and just becomes a Catwoman. (Check any of those "Plastic Surgery Gone Wrong" websites for an example of the "Catwoman" reference).

I payed less then thirty dollars for my black Willis and mahogany Rambler, that was just before the pandemic struck and the Rambler came with scarf. Does that mean when I'm walking out my Willises I can stick my nose in the air and proclaim "that is a 700$ purse."
Last fall or the fall before when Coach first offered refurbished bags, they had a Patti for $495. I started to call mine, 495, lol.
Eta time flies, it was Sept ‘19, with the Coach Originals.

Considering the abundance of fakes, just from the late 90s, I have wondered what it would be like for one to get cycled through the reconditioned promotion!!

When Debi made that authentication video for coach, I wanted to post about it but I didn’t wanna seem like I was “stirring the pot”... I agree with you completely, the fact that they don’t show the creeds is a red flag.

On the bright side, we can all be very happy with the little stash of bags we hoarded, now they can be considered good investment. I can honestly looking at my displaying of bags and not feel any guilt, because of all the money saved. Lol

For us as collectors, its a win-win. If the prices keep rising, our stash of bags are valuable. If the prices fall? We scoop up more coach bags for cheap! :coolio:

eta: only thing that isn’t win-win is I have all this CPR & no bags to use it on currently! Lmao

Well, at least we know we have 3 years before our CPR expires. Maybe the market will collapse before then.
