Coach is now advertising on their site, for some bags, probably the New Ergos, that they are using “Original Natural Leather” implying it is what they used for vintage bags. I wonder if it is really the entire full grain leather hide? Then they add, it will last for generations (we got that!). And top it off with a shot that looks like it was from 2016 promo featuring Debi The Restorer dunking a bag with a comment about the unique level of care and craftsmanship. They got themselves some crack marketers.
That being said, I saw the reissued in blue/azure in Macy’s with brass and it was stunning.

Just went to check this out. I also wonder about the leather. The idea of a
customizable Ergo, oh man...must keep reminding myself I'm poor.

Coach stopped putting “genuine glove tanned leather” in their descriptions & instead have changed it to “glove tanned leather”. The amount of Youtubers who will say things like “its the same leather as the old bags” drives me nuts lmao. I really wanna see what these new originals look like in 10-20 years. Most of them on the pre-loved market look horrible after they’ve been well loved. I wonder if you’re right about the “original natural leather” but something tells me it’s just more clever marketing by coach.

Mine is US L plant 97 as well like @LadaZuri but it has an adjustable strap that looks to be wider than 1/2 inch. If the change happened around 98, then it probably confirms my suspicion that the strap is not original to the bag. However, I am not complaining if it really is wider than 1/2 inch

edit: I think the multi quote maxed out and only got @whateve ’s reply lol @aerinha @Lucyblue13 @Coachaddict4020 thank you for the replies! Btw, how do you like your Station’s?
Guess I'm the odd one(again lol) but I love my mahogany one so much, I got the BT one. It was my first top handle bag, and I find it rather convenient. I have never been a satchel person, the lack of being hands free just doesn't work for me. I love being able to use the top handle, but also being able to switch to shoulder/crossbody easily. The handle itself has never bothered me. I am ok without a back pocket so far, I just open the flap and put stuff in the front pocket if I need to. A back pocket would be great though.

I don't mind the lack of back pocket either... probably because I don't want to stretch a pocket out putting a phone in it anyway. My black Station has the most gorgeous leather of any of my vintage bags!!!!

Just had a weird work lunch experience. I was eating my soup while listening to the person across the table talk when a hand slapped down on the table beside me with a whack!!!! And this woman shouts “here” at me with a good deal of force to her voice. I almost jumped out of my chair. I turned around with WTH face because, WTH, and seeing everyone staring at her, she says, “So you don’t get that in your dress.”

I look and she has slapped a paper towel on the table next to me because I had dripped some soup. I would have seen it when I looked down and it was nowhere near running off the edge. She had seen it and thought my lack of immediate attention meant I was going to leave it there, made herself look awful by both interrupting the speaker and scaring me, and was trying to save face. What is with people?

Sounds like the type of person I call 'entitled'. They feel entitled to get in other people's business. YIKES!
ETA super rude!!!

WTH. People are so weird.

So weird! I just got on here to ask about this new "natural leather" Coach is pushing, and here ya'll are already talking about it! I want to believe it's a waxed version of full grain glove tanned leather, but IDK. I LOVE these new Ergos though! I love the old ones too, but I really like the buckle strap; that'll be easier to store since you can gently roll the strap instead of having to find room for the whole thing (I store these kinds of bags flat so the bottom doesn't start to sag). I can't afford a new one anyway, but I'm dreaming, drooling, and scheming, hahaha!

I have a couple of new "glove tanned bags" I got from Coach outlet reserves: a Dreamer Crossbody (which I love for compartment's sake), a 1941 bone geometric one like the old Cooper, and a 1941 color-block mini Turnlock Shoulder bag. They seem legit, but idk how they will age. They're the only new bags I own, and I am ridiculously careful with them. Haha! My "loved" bags will still look new in 20 years regardless of how often I use them; I don't want to have to rehab my own bags.

I too am curious to see what these new glove tanned bags will look like in 20 years after someone has "loved" them hard. LOL

I think the new ones are fine as well, I just don’t like how coach tries to pass them off as the same leather that the vintage ones had. In regards to that, I don’t get why they didn’t just use full grain to begin with, even if it was the thinner kind, like on the early-mid 2000’s courts, cities, stations etc. Im imagining this thread in 20 years, will people be posting about rogues & cassies?! Lmao

Received my $45 bottle green carousel today!! I only purchased it to get the strap because I thought the bag itself was super ugly from the pictures. Now that I have it in hand, I actually really like how it looks & I don’t see myself parting with it, lmao. It doesn’t show any major signs of wear but Im still gonna dunk it to re-shape. Really pretty tea rose charm courtesy of @LunaSilver :

I think the Originals from Boutique stores are full grain, I have a couple turn lock belt bags, the leather is nice , thinner than vintage bag leather but definitely full grain, attention to details is better too, also most 1941 newer bags are full grain too.
Now outlet start to promote their version of Originals. Only say natural pebble leather, judge by photos , they are less quality.
ETA: @houseof999 knows 1941 bags well, hope she will give us her expert opinion . The several 1941 bags I got all are full grain.

That’s interesting. I had a 1941 dinky from boutique (retail) & the leather was subpar. When I see 1941 retail bags on Ebay & Poshmark, they have “genuine glove tanned leather” stamped in the gold writing. I was under the impression that meant it wasn’t full grain, because its “genuine”? Yea, Id love to see what House says. She has a lot of 1941/originals bags!
