Hey guys! Ive been a bit MIA from the threads because Ive been dealing with the aftermath of the mail that was stolen from me. The stress kinda killed the joy of my hobbies for a while. Anyways, Ive yet to catch up on all the posts, but I received my black nickel court today & Im trying to figure out if it’s been covered in shoe polish... it feels very rubbery, the white gift wrap tissue has black stains & my hands have black smokey stains on them too after handling the bag. Is the bag doomed? Ive never dealt with shoe polish. It was made in Costa Rica as well... how sad

I'm pretty sure I have read one of the authenticators say this was the case. The older ones were not adjustable. My BT one didn't have a strap, so I'm going to use my pocket purse strap with it. The strap from the pp(from 95)is non adjustable, and is the exact same length as the strap from my mahogany station which is from 94.
Mine is a USA - L plant 1997 and also non adjustable. A bit on the short side as well, but I can just get away with wearing it crossbody.
You remembered correctly. Many of these bags had nonadjustable straps originally, then adjustable straps later. I think the change happened around 1998.
Same here. If they were any shorter it wouldn't work for me.

Mine is US L plant 97 as well like @LadaZuri but it has an adjustable strap that looks to be wider than 1/2 inch. If the change happened around 98, then it probably confirms my suspicion that the strap is not original to the bag. However, I am not complaining if it really is wider than 1/2 inch

It’s a nice looking bag but I hate that there’s no back pocket. Also this is just my own weird dealbreaker, but I don’t like how floppy the handle is. It always leans to one side more. I don’t know why that drives me crazy, but it does! I knew there was a reason I sold my previous one, it was so long ago though that I forgot! Lmao

Guess I'm the odd one(again lol) but I love my mahogany one so much, I got the BT one. It was my first top handle bag, and I find it rather convenient. I have never been a satchel person, the lack of being hands free just doesn't work for me. I love being able to use the top handle, but also being able to switch to shoulder/crossbody easily. The handle itself has never bothered me. I am ok without a back pocket so far, I just open the flap and put stuff in the front pocket if I need to. A back pocket would be great though.
Coach is now advertising on their site, for some bags, probably the New Ergos, that they are using “Original Natural Leather” implying it is what they used for vintage bags. I wonder if it is really the entire full grain leather hide? Then they add, it will last for generations (we got that!). And top it off with a shot that looks like it was from 2016 promo featuring Debi The Restorer dunking a bag with a comment about the unique level of care and craftsmanship. They got themselves some crack marketers.

The willis handle has the dowel so it doesn’t do the same floppy thing that the station does. I love my grey willis so much that I purchased another one in a different colour! I never thought Id be a willis fan, I used to think it looked like a man’s briefcase lol!
