Guys! I got a suspender bag (I think style #9490)! And it’s orange/rust! I’m afraid to wash it! I didn’t think I would have this reaction, but I really love it! So many exclamation marks! It has the precreed stamped cartouche, does this mean it’s from the late 70s or early 80s?

I'm so jealous!

Anyone else lose the motivation to rehab? I have a stack of bags that I plan on reselling but Ive just been dreading the thought of dunking & polishing. I think it has a lot to do with having to go back to a normal schedule again. Gone are the days where I could spend all my free time working on bags! I hope I find the motivation eventually though because my bag boxes are everywhere and the clutter is starting to get to me lol
I haven't lost the motivation yet, despite being back to a regular schedule. I usually lose my drive when I have an unstructured day, so having to do a lot usually means I'm motivated to do even more.
I also think about my bag purchases a lot and do a ton of research (like pestering you for WIMBs, lol) as to how useful a style would be for me. I don't rehab to sell, the goal is to have a pretty purse that I can use. I'm usually pretty thrilled about my purchases and want to see them finished. If I had a bunch of rejects from a lot I bought for one specific bag, I'd probably feel 'meh' about rehabbing them too, especially if at the end of my rehab efforts I had the additional efforts of listing stuff online waiting for me, so I understand!
I do get frustrated with rehabbing when I run into the same problems over and over again. It's usually hardware tarnishing - you polish it, then dunk and have to polish again cause some of it came back, then five days later it starts getting cloudy and dull again. I highly recommend getting something with nickel hardware if you feel that way!
Lastly, I agree with what others have said. Vintage Coach gets more and more expensive. The most gratifying rehab is when you get something cheap and make it look like you spent $500 on it at the boutique yesterday. My rehab motivation goes down when I feel like I spent too much for a mediocre outcome.

Not as exciting but I got my stewardess yesterday...ment to be navy but think its black...but put it against my black bags and now Im not so sure.
Will have to wait to dunk as Im using the last of my CPR for my Bal and have to order more today...so thats a two week wait.

oh and @Punkkitten and @houseof999 ...do any of you have peanut or food allergies of any type?

I’m totally in the same spot as you are. I haven’t even purchased or looked for anything in a few weeks. It’s probably due to being stuck at home and still working from home. 19th week of working from home for me and I’m not into it. I’m a social worker and a home visitor and now I’m just doing my visits via phone calls...it’s a pretty big bummer since I’m such a people person. I miss people!!! Thank goodness I live with an amazing teenage son and boyfriend. :hugs:

Nice score . Congrats!
If the leather feels strong and supple, then should be ok to dunk. I dunked a rust (or burnt orange?) metal tag pre creed metal tab Courier, it turned out fine like all other bags. If you want to be sure, you can condition it a few times prior to dunk. I did have a bag's pippings cracked from dunk before, but that NYC bag was very dry and leather was quite stiff.

Haha Im always happy to post WIMBS or anything related to any of my bags for the members of this thread as you all have helped me so much so pester away ;)! If Im buying for myself- I will rehab right away because I get excited to wear the bag so that motivates me! When it comes to selling, Im pretty selective of which bags I will rehab to sell and stick to the most popular styles that I know people want. Because these are bags that I have rehabbed multiple times to flip, its just becoming a chore to do them. I also spread my sales across poshmark, Ebay (sometimes) & this local classified site to sell to people in my area so its tiring to list the same bag on multiple platforms as well. This on top of my regular workload just burns me out. I have decided when this stack is finished and sold, I will only stick to buying for myself. Also, I haven’t purchased any additional bags to rehab in a while because as you mentioned, the cost has gone up to the point where its not worth the hassle anymore. I have an exciting purchase being delivered tomorrow for myself so hopefully that kick starts the dunk motivation again! :yahoo:

I lost my motivation to rehab a long time ago. It's hard to get it back. I've been looking for something cheap on ebay and there is hardly anything. It's like every seller has figured out what these bags are and has priced them higher than normal. Very few just say "vintage bag" anymore. They have correct names and style numbers.

I noticed that as well. I can never find cheap bags using the normal word searches. Nowadays, you have to stumble across a typo listing or someone who has no idea what they have to grab something cheap! Its also why I hate auctions. I feel like Im competing against way too many people and I don’t wanna overpay just to be the winner as the competitive drive comes out in those final auction moments lol

Ooooh, now I want to know! What is it?

It does feel soft/supple, but I’ll condition it first like you suggested and see how it looks. There’s a tiny tear in the piping in the front flap, towards bottom right corner (you can see it in the photo). Trying to decide what to do there too. It’s such a cool bag though. I’m so glad to have it as part of my bag family.

I once bought a bag solely to rehab and resell. It sat around for a long time. This is in comparison to how a bag goes immediately into the bath when I actually want it or am curious about the style. So I’m the same as you, at least how you feel currently. It’s also when I realized I’m not cut out for reselling!

I discovered this about myself when I made a quilt. My sister loved it and asked me to make one for her. I never could get motivated to work on it.
